What the claims cover, in plain language

Claim 1 - a tower business card holder comprising a base (1) and a ladder fixing shaft (5). The bottom of the shaft is fixedly connected to the base. The shaft portion has multiple step surfaces, and a runner is placed on each step surface. The runner can rotate around the ladder fixing shaft. Multiple business card holders (6) are provided on the runner. Specifically, the runner is a movable runner (201) with a central turn axle hole (21) and a periphery having a runner bottom surface (23). Multiple movable business card holders (601) are installed on the runner. The top of each card holder has a name film trap (61), and the bottom has an elastic neck (63) connected to the runner bottom surface. The movable business card holders can slide along the circumference of the movable runner.

Claim 2 - the base (1) has a neck (11) and multiple fixing holes (12). The bottom of the ladder fixing shaft (5) has a fixed axle bed (51) and multiple screw holes (52). The fixed axle bed installs into the neck, and the fixing holes connect to the screw holes via screws. Claim 3 - the top of the ladder fixing shaft (5) has an axial end (56) on which an axle cap (8) is installed. Claim 4 - the opening direction of the name film trap (61) is oblique. Claim 5 - the radius size of each runner decreases successively from bottom to top.

This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.

What this means for US production

This patent was filed only in China and is withdrawn, meaning the owner actively abandoned the patent right effective 2026-01-02. It therefore no longer restricts anyone in China. It has no US or other foreign counterpart.

Before tooling starts, a buyer should look at two issues:

  • Other patents may exist. Desk organizers and rotating card files are a mature product category with many older and active designs globally. This Chinese filing has no recorded foreign citations, but a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of the stepped rotating tier mechanism is recommended before committing to tooling, to ensure no active US utility or design patents cover similar structures.
  • Material selection for rotation. The smoothness of the turn axle hole rotating on the step surfaces depends heavily on the chosen plastics or metals and their tolerances, so the fit is worked out on the first samples rather than assumed from the drawings.

Customization and manufacturing

What can be customized

AreaOptions
Number of tiersTo be confirmed in design based on target card capacity
Runner diametersProportional stepping to be confirmed in design
MaterialsInjection-molded plastics (e.g., ABS, PS, acrylic) or metal alloys
Card holder styleSize of the name film trap to fit regional business card dimensions
Base weight and shapeWider or weighted bases for stability on uneven desks
Colors and finishesSolid colors, transparent tiers, or metallic coatings

Things to plan for (US market)

  • California Proposition 65 - if plastic resins, paints, or metallic coatings contain listed chemicals, appropriate labeling or material substitution is required for sales in California.
  • CPSC general requirements - while this is an office accessory and not a children’s product, materials should still comply with general safety standards regarding sharp edges and structural integrity.

How a project runs

  1. Inquiry - specify the target capacity (number of cards), preferred materials, and tier count.
  2. Design - engineer the step surface spacing, runner radii, and the elastic neck sliding mechanism to match the chosen material thickness.
  3. Prototype - produce 3D-printed or soft-tooled samples to test the rotation friction and the oblique angle of the name film traps.
  4. Pilot run - mold a small batch to verify that the movable business card holders slide smoothly along the runner bottom surface without binding.
  5. Production - full-scale injection molding or die casting, finishing, and assembly of the base, shaft, runners, and axle cap.

Quantities & timeline

The base, ladder fixing shaft, and axle cap require individual molds. Each runner size needs its own mold cavity due to the decreasing radii. The movable business card holders, being identical across tiers, use a single high-cavity mold. Assembly involves inserting the shaft into the base neck, stacking the runners, and snapping on the axle cap. Send us your target card capacity, material preferences, tier count, estimated quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
