Updated October 29, 2026Push-Style Round Cutter with Spring-Buffered Magnetic Blade Mount
Standard rolling cutters often require tools to change the wheel, and hard impacts against cutting boards dull the edge quickly. This push-style round cutter solves both issues with a magnetic mounting system and a built-in buffer spring. The round cutter sits on a central rotating shaft hinged into bearing connecting blocks. These blocks slide upward into extension grooves on the side support arms and lock in place by snapping against a permanent magnetic iron movable block. When you need to swap the wheel, pulling it downward separates the magnetic connection and unseats a steel ball plunger, letting the whole assembly drop out without screws. During use, pushing the handle rolls the cutter across the food material. If the wheel strikes a hard surface, the buffer spring compresses inside the long through groove, absorbing the shock so the blade does not chip. The design supports different wheel profiles, including a zigzag edge for textured cuts or a dual-ended circular shear blade for slicing.

The problem
Rolling cutters used for dough, pastry, and flat food materials typically rely on a fixed axle pressed into a plastic or metal frame. When the wheel dulls or needs cleaning, removing it requires prying the frame apart or unscrewing small fasteners, which is slow and risks breaking the housing. Another common issue is impact damage. When a user pushes a rigid cutter across a board, the wheel strikes the hard surface repeatedly. Without any shock absorption, the blade edge chips or bends, shortening the tool’s life. Basic handles also lack ergonomic covers, making them slippery when hands are wet or dusty from flour.
The solution
This push-style round cutter uses a combination of magnetic retention and a spring buffer to hold the cutting wheel securely while allowing instant removal.
- A toolframe features a handle portion (21) with an overcoat (211) fixed to both outer walls for grip. Two side support arms (22) extend from the front bottom surface.
- A round cutter (10) is fixed in the middle of a central rotating shaft (24). The two ends of the shaft hinge into bearing connecting blocks (25), placing the cutter between the two side support arms.
- Each side support arm has an extension groove (221) extending upward from its bottom surface. Above this, a long through groove (222) runs through the middle of the arm, with its bottom communicating with the top of the extension groove.
- Raised items (223) run along both inner walls of the long through groove. A movable block (224) sleeves inside this groove, guided by vertical grooves (225) on its sides that fit over the raised items.
- A buffer spring (226) sits inside the long through groove. Its upper end presses against the top surface of the groove, and its lower end presses against the top surface of the movable block.
- The movable block is a permanent magnetic iron block. Its bottom surface has an arc groove (227). The bearing connecting block sleeves into this arc groove and is held by magnetic adsorption.
- A spacing bulb plunger (252) bolts to the side wall of the extension groove. Its steel ball nests into a spacing elongated slot (251) on the side wall of the bearing connecting block.

Who it is for
- Kitchenware brands expanding their baking and pastry tool lines with a cutter that offers quick blade swaps for retail customers.
- Amazon private-label sellers sourcing hand-held food prep tools that stand out through visible mechanical features like the magnetic mount and spring buffer.
- Commercial bakery suppliers needing durable rolling cutters where staff frequently change wheels between dough types and sanitation cycles.
- Wholesalers of home goods looking for kitchen gadgets with multiple wheel profiles, such as zigzag or straight shear edges, packed under one SKU family.
How it works
The main parts

| No. | Part | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | Round cutter | The cutting wheel; can be zigzag or shear-edged. |
| 21 | Handle portion | Main body gripped by the user. |
| 211 | Overcoat | Fixed to both outer walls of the handle for grip. |
| 22 | Side support arm | Extends from the handle to support the cutter. |
| 221 | Extension groove | Upward groove receiving the bearing connecting block. |
| 222 | Long through groove | Houses the movable block and buffer spring. |
| 223 | Raised item | Guides the movable block inside the long through groove. |
| 224 | Movable block | Permanent magnetic iron block holding the bearing block. |
| 225 | Vertical groove | Slides along the raised item to keep the block aligned. |
| 226 | Buffer spring | Absorbs downward force during cutting. |
| 227 | Arc groove | Bottom curve of the movable block that receives the bearing block. |
| 24 | Central rotating shaft | Holds the round cutter and hinges into the bearing blocks. |
| 25 | Bearing connecting block | Hinges the shaft ends; locks into the extension groove. |
| 251 | Spacing elongated slot | Receives the steel ball of the plunger. |
| 252 | Spacing bulb plunger | Bolts to the extension groove to secure the bearing block. |
Operating steps
- Assembly: Insert the bearing connecting block (25) of the round cutter (10) upward into the extension groove (221). The block reaches the movable block (224), which magnetically adsorbs it into the arc groove (227). Simultaneously, the steel ball of the spacing bulb plunger (252) nests into the spacing elongated slot (251).
- Cutting: Grip the overcoat (211) on the handle portion (21) and push the tool forward. The round cutter (10) rolls across the food material.
- Shock absorption: As downward pressure is applied, the buffer spring (226) compresses between the top of the long through groove (222) and the movable block (224), preventing rigid impact on the blade.
- Disassembly: Pull the round cutter (10) downward with force. The movable block (224) separates from the bearing connecting block (25), breaking the magnetic hold. The steel ball exits the spacing elongated slot (251), allowing the entire cutter assembly to drop free.

Applications
Pizza and flatbread dough
Pizzeria staff and home bakers use round cutters to divide rolled dough before baking. The buffer spring prevents the wheel from striking the cutting board too hard, keeping the edge sharp longer during repetitive batch work.
Pastry lattice strips
When cutting butter-rich pastry dough for pie lattices, bakers swap between straight and zigzag wheels. The magnetic mount allows changing the wheel profile without washing small screws or using tools.
Homemade pasta sheets
Users rolling out pasta sheets cut noodles or ravioli borders by pushing the cutter along a guide. The overcoat on the handle provides a firm grip even when hands are covered in flour, preventing slips.
Craft and fondant shaping
Cake decorators cut fondant or gum paste into ribbons and shapes. The ability to detach the wheel easily means the cutter can be washed thoroughly between colors without water pooling inside a fixed axle housing.
Where it is less suitable
- Heavy root vegetables or thick meats - the tool is designed for rolling across flat food materials; chopping hard produce requires a different blade geometry and heavier frame.
- Dishwasher-only environments - the permanent magnetic iron block and exposed buffer spring may require specific material selections for commercial dishwashers, to be confirmed in design.
Frequently asked questions
How does the blade attach without screws?
The bearing connecting blocks at the ends of the wheel’s shaft slide up into extension grooves on the frame. A permanent magnetic iron block inside the handle pulls the bearing blocks into an arc groove, holding them in place. A steel ball plunger also seats into a slot on the block to prevent rotation or accidental dropping.
How do I remove the wheel for cleaning?
Pull the round cutter downward firmly. This force overcomes the magnetic attraction, separating the bearing block from the movable block. The steel ball pops out of its slot, and the entire wheel assembly drops free. No tools are needed.
What is the purpose of the buffer spring?
The spring sits above the magnetic block inside a long through groove. When you push the cutter down against a board, the spring compresses, absorbing the shock so the blade edge does not strike the surface rigidly. This helps prevent chipping.
Can I use different types of cutting wheels?
Yes. The patent describes a zigzag lateral wall for textured cuts and a circular shear blade formed at both ends of the central shaft. Swapping between these profiles uses the magnetic release rather than screws.
Is the handle comfortable to grip?
An overcoat is fixed to both outer walls of the handle portion. Its material and grip texture get chosen with the buyer and tried on samples with wet or floury hands.
Will the magnet rust or contaminate food?
The patent specifies a permanent magnetic iron block. For food-contact production, this component must be fully encapsulated within the frame or manufactured from a food-safe, corrosion-resistant magnetic material. This is confirmed during the engineering phase.
Can this design be made and sold in the US?
The patent was filed only in China and is lapsed, having been terminated for non-payment of annual fees in 2023. It does not restrict the design in the US or in China. Kitchen cutters may be covered by other US patents - see Patent & Production - so we recommend a freedom-to-operate check before volume production.
