Patent CN105774300B
Updated October 24, 2026Carousel Business Card Holder with Rolling Card Trays on Twin Ring Tracks
Business cards still pile up on reception desks, sales counters and in offices, and the classic holders - a single slot, a flip-file or a Rolodex - either show one card or hide them all. This design arranges cards in a ring. An outer ring with an upward-facing track sits around an inner ring that stands on three feet and has an outward-facing track. Each card tray has a wheel underneath that runs in the outer track and a wheel on its side that runs in the inner track, so the trays glide around the circle like cars on a rail. Every tray holds cards at an upward angle for easy reading, and small entry gaps in both rings let trays be added or taken out.

Splat! What let you down?
🎠
Trays on a track
Card trays roll around the stand on two wheels each, guided by an outer and an inner ring.
📐
Angled card slots
Each tray holds cards tilted upward so names are easy to read from the desk.
➕
Add or remove trays
Entry gaps in both rings, sized to the wheels, let trays be clipped in or lifted out.
🦶
Three-foot stand
The inner ring stands on three feet, so it sits steady on any desk.

The problem
Even in a digital office, printed cards keep arriving: business cards from clients and suppliers, appointment cards, vendor contacts at a reception desk. A single-slot holder shows only the front card; boxes and flip-files hide the rest; rotary card files are bulky. The patent’s aim is a card stand that makes the cards easy to look through, to carry and to store.
The solution
The patent sets the cards on a small circular track:
- An outer ring (1) has a track opening upward (12).
- An inner ring (2) sits concentrically inside it and has a track opening outward (22). Three feet (23) under the inner ring hold the stand.
- Each card tray (3) has a bottom wheel (31) in the middle of its underside, which runs in the outer ring’s track, and a side wheel (32) at its inner end, which runs in the inner ring’s track.
- On top of each tray is a card slot (33) whose opening tilts upward.
- Guided by both wheels, each tray can travel all the way around the inner ring on the outer ring.
- An outer entry gap (11) and an inner entry gap (21), matched to the size of the wheels, let trays be put on or taken off the rings. The stand can carry one tray or several.

Who it is for
- Office-supply and desk-accessory brands looking for a new take on the card holder that stands out on a shelf of flat stands and flip-files.
- Promotional products suppliers - a branded carousel stays on a client’s desk for years.
- Retail and hospitality counters that display several kinds of cards: staff cards, partner services, appointment cards.
- Gift and stationery stores selling desk items in coordinated sets.
How it works
The main parts

| No. | Part | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Outer ring | Carries the trays; its track (12) opens upward. |
| 11 | Outer entry gap | Lets a tray’s bottom wheel in or out. |
| 2 | Inner ring | Guides the trays; its track (22) opens outward. |
| 21 | Inner entry gap | Lets a tray’s side wheel in or out. |
| 23 | Feet | Three feet under the inner ring. |
| 3 | Card tray | Holds a stack of cards. |
| 31, 32 | Bottom and side wheels | Run in the outer and inner tracks. |
| 33 | Card slot | Upward-tilted pocket for the cards. |
Using it
- Load the trays with cards - one tray per category, company or person, for example.
- Fit each tray by passing its wheels through the entry gaps into the two tracks.
- Spin a tray to the front by pushing it along the ring; the angled slot presents the cards for reading.
- Lift a tray out through the gaps to carry it to a meeting or to refill it.

Applications
Reception and front desks
Different trays for different departments or partner services; visitors spin the carousel to find the card they need.
Sales offices and trade-show booths
Sales staff keep their own tray in a shared carousel and lift it out to take to a meeting.
Personal contact sorting
People who collect many cards at events can sort them by industry or event into separate trays instead of one pile.
Salons, clinics and service counters
Appointment cards, staff cards and loyalty cards on one compact stand by the register.
Photo, recipe and flash cards
The same carousel holds small photo prints, recipe cards or study flash cards - a broader home market for the design.
Where it is less suitable
- Large card archives - a few trays hold a modest number of cards; hundreds of contacts still belong in a box file or a scanner app.
- Very tight desks - a ring layout needs more surface than a single upright card slot.
Frequently asked questions
How do the trays move around the stand?
Each tray has two wheels: one underneath that runs in the outer ring’s upward-facing track, and one at its inner end that runs in the inner ring’s outward-facing track. Held by both, the tray rolls around the circle when pushed.
How many trays does it hold?
The patent allows one or more trays. The number depends on ring diameter and tray width, both set in design.
How many cards fit in a tray?
The patent gives no figure. Slot depth and tray length are chosen in design for the stack height you want.
Can trays be removed?
Yes. Both rings have entry gaps sized to the wheels; align a tray with the gaps and it lifts out or clips in.
Will it work for cards other than business cards?
Yes. Tray width can be set for business cards, appointment cards, small photos, recipe cards or flash cards.
Can it carry our logo?
Yes - on the trays, the base or the rings, by pad printing or laser engraving, with color-coded trays if wanted.
Can this design be made and sold in the US?
The patent was filed only in China and has been abandoned, so it does not restrict the design in the US or in China. Desk organizers may be covered by other US patents, especially design patents - see Patent & Production - so we recommend a freedom-to-operate check before volume production.
Are you affiliated with the patent owner?
No. IP2M is an independent design and manufacturing service working from the public patent document.
