Patent CN105962512B
Updated October 28, 2026Removable Multifunctional Waterproof Ventilation Cap
Standard caps trap heat in summer and let rain through vents in storms. This design separates the structural frame from the cap body so each part does its job. The C-shaped frame, lower press strip, and ceiling molding hold a biogenic opal rubber cap body that can be detached and reattached. Inside the cap body, an interlayer holds a waterproof ventilated membrane over several stomata, while intensive grooves on the inner surface channel hot gas and steam outward. When it rains, the membrane blocks water; when it is warm, the grooves vent heat. The front carries a brim with sunglasses lenses and goggles, while the rear has a semilune extendible flake. Both attach with snap-fasteners or magnetic sheets wrapped inside. Pulling down the front and flipping up the rear flake creates a combined eye-protection and mask setup, keeping the cap fixed on the head even when the main body is removed.

The problem
Outdoor headwear faces two opposing demands. Vents that release heat also let rain reach the wearer’s head, while fully sealed caps trap hot gas and steam during physical activity. Adding separate goggles or a face mask means carrying extra items that are easily lost. Attaching them permanently makes the cap heavy and limits its use to one specific weather condition. Buyers need a single headwear platform that manages moisture, blocks rain, and adapts to changing environments without requiring multiple separate accessories.
The solution
This cap addresses those issues by separating the rigid support structure from the flexible cap body.
- A hat stand consisting of a C-shaped frame (31), a lower press strip (32) with a cavity ring (33), a ceiling molding (12), and a crown (18) forms the base. The lower press strip is fixed on the C-shaped frame and wraps around the crown.
- The cap body (11) is made of biogenic opal rubber (except for the membrane). Its upper and lower surfaces have a corresponding concave-convex shape, allowing it to be pressed securely between the lower press strip and the ceiling molding.
- Several stomata pass through the cap body. An interlayer within the cap body holds a waterproof ventilated membrane over each stoma.
- Intensive grooves distributed in a net pattern on the inner side of the cap body channel hot gas and steam from the head toward the stomata for discharge.
- A brim (17) with sunglasses lenses (16) sits at the front, where goggles (14) are also located. A semilune extendible flake (21) is positioned at the rear end.
- The brim and the extendible flake attach to the cap body using a fixation device (19), which is either a snap-fastener or a magnetic sheet wrapped inside.
When the front is pulled down and the extendible flake is flipped up simultaneously, they form a combined eye-protection and mask configuration. Because the extendible flake remains attached, the cap stays fixed on the head even when the main cap body is detached. A crack running along 50%-60% of the cap body’s lower edge perimeter allows the waterproof ventilated membrane to be replaced. Bulge structures (13) on both sides of the cap body contain apertures and function as air bags. Triangular pyramidal protrusions (15) are located in the middle of the brim and on one side of the C-shaped frame. The crown has connected through-holes on its lower and upper sides; the lower side through-hole sits within the interlayer, while the upper side through-hole exposes outside the cap body.

Who it is for
- Outdoor apparel brands looking to add a convertible headwear piece that handles both rain and sun without requiring separate SKUs for each season.
- Amazon sellers in the sporting goods category who need a distinct product with visible mechanical features—like the detachable body and folding mask—for listing images and demonstrations.
- Wholesale distributors for workwear and safety gear seeking headwear that combines basic splash protection with integrated eye coverage for light outdoor tasks.
- Promotional product suppliers wanting a customizable cap platform where the silicone body color and membrane type can be specified per client order.
How it works
The main parts

| No. | Part | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 11 | Cap body | Biogenic opal rubber shell holding the membrane, grooves, and attachments. |
| 12 | Ceiling molding | Presses the cap body onto the lower press strip. |
| 13 | Bulge structure | Side protrusions with apertures acting as air bags. |
| 14 | Goggles | Front eye protection component. |
| 15 | Protrusion | Triangular pyramidal shapes on the brim and C-shaped frame. |
| 16 | Sunglasses lenses | Lenses on the brim that overlap the goggles when stowed. |
| 17 | Brim | Front shield carrying the sunglasses lenses. |
| 18 | Crown | Central top piece with connected lower and upper through-holes. |
| 19 | Fixation device | Snap-fastener or interior-wrapped magnetic sheet for attaching parts. |
| 21 | Extendible flake | Semilune rear piece that flips up to form a mask. |
| 31 | C-shaped frame | Main structural ring of the hat stand. |
| 32 | Lower press strip | Holds the cap body against the ceiling molding; contains a cavity ring (33). |
Operating steps
- Assemble the cap - press the cap body (11) into the lower press strip (32) using the ceiling molding (12). The concave-convex shapes lock together.
- Ventilate - hot gas and steam from the head enter the intensive grooves on the inner side, travel to the stomata, and exit through the waterproof ventilated membrane. Rain cannot pass back through the membrane.
- Configure for sun - leave the brim (17) and sunglasses lenses (16) in place. The goggles (14) remain stowed, overlapping with the lenses.
- Configure for wind or dust - pull down the front and flip up the semilune extendible flake (21) at the rear. They meet to form eye protection and a mask. The fixation devices (19) hold them in position.
- Remove the cap body - detach the cap body from the lower press strip. The extendible flake keeps the frame secured on the head. Replace the membrane through the crack on the lower edge if needed.

Applications
Hiking and trail walking
Hikers encounter sudden rain and high exertion levels. The waterproof ventilated membrane blocks rain while the intensive grooves channel sweat vapor outward, preventing the head from overheating during climbs.
Cycling and commuting
Cyclists face wind, dust, and changing light. The front goggles and sunglasses lenses provide eye coverage, while the rear extendible flake flips up to shield the lower face from road debris.
Outdoor maintenance and yard work
Landscapers and groundskeepers move between sun and showers. The removable cap body can be taken off and wiped clean, and the air-bag bulge structures on the sides help maintain the cap’s shape during movement.
Fishing and boating
Anglers deal with glare and splashing water. The brim’s sunglasses lenses reduce glare, and the waterproof membrane prevents spray from soaking through the cap body during rough conditions.
Where it is less suitable
- High-impact sports - the C-shaped frame and silicone body are not rated as protective helmets for activities like climbing or contact sports.
- Formal or uniform dress codes - the visible mechanical components, bulge structures, and folding mask give it a technical appearance unsuited for corporate or formal settings.
- Extreme cold environments - the stomata and ventilation grooves prioritize airflow, making this cap less appropriate for retaining heat in freezing temperatures.
Frequently asked questions
How does the waterproof ventilation work?
The cap body contains several stomata (pores). Inside the cap body’s interlayer, a waterproof ventilated membrane covers these pores. Intensive grooves in a net distribution on the inner side channel hot gas and steam from the head toward the stomata. The membrane allows vapor to escape but blocks liquid rain from entering.
Is the cap body really removable?
Yes. The cap body is made of biogenic opal rubber (silicone) and features concave-convex shapes on its upper and lower surfaces. It presses into the lower press strip and is held by the ceiling molding. You can detach it from the frame. The rear extendible flake helps keep the frame on the head even when the cap body is removed.
How do the goggles and mask form?
The front of the cap has goggles and a brim with sunglasses lenses. The rear has a semilune extendible flake. By pulling down the front and flipping up the rear flake simultaneously, they combine to form eye protection and a mask. They attach using snap-fasteners or magnetic sheets wrapped inside.
Can the membrane be replaced?
The cap body has a crack along its lower edge, accounting for 50%-60% of the perimeter. This opening provides access to the interlayer so the waterproof ventilated membrane can be swapped out during maintenance.
What are the side bulges?
There are bulge structures on both sides of the cap body. Each contains an aperture and functions as an air bag. Their exact volume and pressure characteristics are set in design and confirmed on prototypes.
What sizes are available?
The patent does not list specific head circumferences. Sizes are determined by the dimensions of the C-shaped frame and the silicone cap body molds, which are configured based on buyer requirements during the design phase.
Can this design be made and sold in the US?
The patent was filed only in China and is in force there until at most 2036-06-14 (if annual fees are paid). It does not restrict making or selling the design in the US. However, other US patents covering headwear ventilation or folding masks may exist, so a freedom-to-operate review is advised before production.
