What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 describes a removable multifunctional waterproof ventilation cap comprising a hat stand and a cap body. The hat stand includes a C-shaped frame, a lower press strip fixed on the frame with a cavity ring, a ceiling molding, and a crown fixed around the lower press strip. The cap body is fixed above the lower press strip by the ceiling molding. The cap body has an interlayer containing a waterproof ventilated membrane and porosity (stomata). Intensive grooves in a net distribution are on the inner side of the cap body. The upper and lower surfaces of the cap body have corresponding concave-convex shapes to facilitate pressing it into the lower press strip with the ceiling molding. The crown has a through-hole passing through the top of the cap body. The cap body front end has a brim, front goggles, and a rear semilune extendible flake. The brim and extendible flake can be fixed or detached via a fixation device, which is a snap-fastener or an interior-wrapped magnetic sheet. Sunglasses lenses are on the brim; when stowed, the sunglasses and goggles positions overlap. Triangular pyramidal protrusions are in the middle of the brim and on one side of the C-shaped frame. Apart from the waterproof ventilated membrane, the rest of the cap body uses biogenic opal rubber. A crack on the cap body’s lower edge accounts for 50%-60% of the perimeter. Bulge structures with apertures are on both sides of the cap body, functioning as air bags.
Claim 2 adds that the crown’s lower side and upper side have through-holes that connect to each other. The lower side through-hole is located within the interlayer, and the upper side through-hole exposes outside the cap body.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and is currently in force. Making or selling this exact cap design in China needs the owner’s permission. There is no US or other foreign counterpart.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Headwear with integrated ventilation membranes, detachable components, and folding face shields is a broad field. While no foreign patents citing this Chinese document were identified, other companies may hold active US or international patents covering similar waterproof breathable hats or magnetic attachment mechanisms, so a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review is recommended before committing to tooling.
- Membrane specification. The patent names a “waterproof ventilated membrane” but does not specify the material grade, hydrostatic head rating, or moisture vapor transmission rate. These parameters must be set in design and confirmed on prototypes to match the intended use environment.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Cap body material | Biogenic opal rubber (silicone) durometer and color |
| Membrane | ePTFE, PU, or other microporous films; pore size and backing to be confirmed in design |
| Frame | C-shaped frame material (plastic, composite, or metal core) and diameter |
| Fixation devices | Snap-fasteners or magnetic sheets; magnet strength and wrap material |
| Lenses | Sunglasses and goggles lens material (PC, acrylic), tint, and UV coating |
| Dimensions | Head circumference sizes; length of the crack (within the 50%-60% range) and extendible flake |
| Air bags | Volume and aperture size of the side bulge structures |
Things to plan for (US market)
- CPSC 16 CFR 1610 / 1611 - Standard for the flammability of clothing textiles; applies to wearable textile and polymer items.
- FDA 21 CFR - If the cap body or membrane contacts the mouth area when used as a mask, food-contact or skin-sensitization rules may apply depending on marketing claims.
- California Proposition 65 - Silicone compounds, plasticizers, magnetic sheet coatings, and lens materials require screening for listed chemicals.
- ANSI Z87.1 - If the goggles or sunglasses lenses are marketed for occupational eye protection, they must meet impact standards.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - target user, required sizes, membrane performance, and quantity.
- Design - CAD models for the C-shaped frame, mold flow for the silicone cap body, and membrane lamination layout.
- Prototype - 3D-printed frames and cast silicone bodies to test the concave-convex press fit, magnetic/snap alignment, and ventilation flow.
- Pilot run - small batch for wear testing, rain exposure, and flammability checks.
- Production - injection molding for the frame, compression or injection molding for the silicone body, membrane welding, and final assembly of lenses and fixation devices.
Quantities & timeline
Manufacturing requires molds for the C-shaped frame, the ceiling molding, and the crown, plus compression or injection molds for the silicone cap body in each size. Cutting dies are needed for the waterproof ventilated membrane and the lenses. Assembly jigs ensure the 50%-60% lower-edge crack aligns correctly for membrane replacement. Certification tests for flammability and chemical compliance run concurrently with pilot production. Send us your target sizes, membrane requirements, lens specifications, estimated quantities, and launch schedule and we will reply with options.
