What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a rain gear comprising a raincoat body (1) and a rain cap (2), where the raincoat body has a neck (3) communicating with the rain cap. The rain cap includes a cap top (21) covering the head and at least one transparent sheet-like body (22) blocking the sides. The upper and lower sides of the transparent sheet connect to the cap top and the neck via a first sliding structure (4) and a second sliding structure (5). The first sliding structure has a first flexible slide rail (41) around the cap top with both ends joined together, featuring at least one downward-opening first chute (42). Inside the chute is a first flexible slider (43) identical in side length to the sheet’s connecting edge and tightly joined to it. The second sliding structure has a second flexible slide rail (51) around the neck with both ends detachably connected, featuring at least one upward-opening second chute (52) containing a second flexible slider (53) tightly joined to the sheet.
Claims 2-3 - specify one chute on each rail, where the sheet’s connecting sides are longer than the rails, and the chutes form helical lines scattering outward after the rail ends join. Claims 4-5 - describe two parallel first chutes and two corresponding second chutes, with at least one transparent sheet between each pair, and specific length relationships between the sheets and the rails. Claim 6 - adds pull handles (6) hanging vertically on both sides of the transparent sheet to pull it axially along the rails. Claim 7 - states the cap top is integral with the first rail, the sheet is integral with the first slider and second rail, and the chutes are I-shaped grooves.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and is currently in force there (until at most 2036-06-17, provided annual fees are paid). Making or selling this exact raincoat design in China needs the owner’s permission. It has no US or other foreign counterpart.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Rainwear featuring integrated visors, sliding panels, or adjustable hoods is an active field with various global filings by outdoor apparel companies, so a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of the sliding rail mechanism and transparent panel arrangement is needed before tooling.
- Material flexibility. The patent specifies “flexible” slide rails and sliders. The exact polymer grade, durometer, and thickness required to keep the rails bending smoothly around a human head while resisting wind load must be set in design and confirmed on prototypes.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Shell fabric | PU-coated polyester, TPU laminate, PVC (to be confirmed in design) |
| Transparent sheet | Clear TPU, EVA, or PVC film; thickness to be confirmed in design |
| Rail profile | I-shaped groove dimensions, extrusion material and color |
| Slider count | Single or dual parallel chutes per the patent claims |
| Pull handles | Fabric loops, molded plastic tabs, or cord toggles |
| Sizing | Adult unisex, adult sized, or youth dimensions |
| Closure | Zipper, snap buttons, or hook-and-loop on the raincoat body |
Things to plan for (US market)
- CPSC 16 CFR 1610 / 1611 - flammability standards for clothing textiles and vinyl plastic film used in apparel.
- California Proposition 65 - phthalates, lead, and formaldehyde limits in plastic films and coated fabrics.
- CPSIA - if marketed for children under 12, lead and phthalate testing plus tracking labels are mandatory.
- Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (TFPIA) - requires fiber content, country of origin, and manufacturer identity on the label.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - target audience, sizes, fabric preferences, and estimated volumes.
- Design - pattern drafting, rail extrusion profile design, slider geometry, and sheet dimensions.
- Prototype - sewing samples, extruding test rails, assembling the sliding structures, and fitting tests.
- Pilot run - small batch for wear testing, checking slider friction, rail detachment force, and waterproof seam taping.
- Production - fabric cutting, high-frequency welding or sewing, rail attachment, hardware assembly, and quality inspection.
Quantities & timeline
Manufacturing requires custom dies for extruding the flexible slide rails, injection molds for the sliders and pull handles, and cutting dies for the transparent sheet profiles. Seam-taping machines must be calibrated for the chosen shell fabric. Certification tests for flammability and chemical compliance run concurrently with pilot samples. Send us your target sizes, fabric preferences, feature requirements, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
