What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - an eraser with a hollow housing, an annular rail on one face carrying an annular brush, and a collection system inside: a first guide plate near the top and a second guide plate near the bottom, both slanted, an air vent on the side connected to a channel with first and second vents, and a storage bin at the bottom connected to the channel. An electrostatic system has a cathode plate at the top above the first guide plate, an anode plate on top of the bin below the second guide plate, and a power supply connected to both.
Claim 2 - the two guide plates are parallel. Claim 3 - the guide plates are glass. Claim 4 - the ring brush is a bristle brush. Claim 5 - the bin is detachable. Claim 6 - a switch button on the housing controls the power supply.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and has lapsed, so it no longer restricts anyone in China either. It has no US or other foreign counterpart.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Dust-collecting and vacuum chalkboard erasers have a long patent history in the US and Japan, though most older patents have expired; a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of any current eraser and electrostatic-collector patents should come before tooling.
- Collection performance. The patent gives no capture figures; how much dust is collected depends on brush speed, plate spacing and voltage, and is measured on prototypes.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Size | Standard hand-held, compact for easels, wide for lecture boards |
| Brush | Bristle, felt or microfiber ring; replaceable ring |
| Power | AA/AAA cells or USB-C rechargeable; low-voltage high-voltage module |
| Guide plates | Glass or clear PC; see-through bin window |
| Housing | Colors, soft-touch grip, magnet for board ledges |
| Branding | School or brand logo, retail and classroom multi-packs |
Things to plan for (US market)
- Electrical safety of the electrostatic module - the high-voltage circuit must be fully enclosed and current-limited; a safety evaluation (for example to UL 62368-1 principles) is recommended.
- FCC Part 15 - the electrostatic power circuit is an unintentional radiator and must meet FCC limits.
- Battery rules - a lithium rechargeable version needs UN 38.3 testing; alkaline cells avoid it.
- Children’s product rules if sold for kids - a version marketed to children 12 and under needs CPSIA testing and a Children’s Product Certificate.
- No health claims - marketing should describe dust collection, not health benefits.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - size, power, brush type and quantity.
- Design - housing, airflow path, plate spacing, high-voltage module.
- Prototype - working samples tested for dust capture, safety and battery life.
- Pilot run - small batch for FCC and safety testing and packaging.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
The housing, rail, bin and brush carrier need injection molds, the guide plates need cutting or molding, and the electrostatic module needs a circuit board and high-voltage converter. Most development time goes into the airflow path and safe high-voltage design. Send us your size, power choice, brush type, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
