Intelligent Notebook Computer Support Bag with Integrated Stand

Working on a laptop during travel often means balancing it on your knees or finding a makeshift surface. This blocks ventilation and strains the neck. This bag solves it by integrating a mechanical stand directly into the case. Inside a dedicated groove, a support assembly unfolds. It uses a triangular geometry formed by a base plate, a sliding strut, and a top plate. You adjust the height and tilt by clicking the strut into different slots along the base. Once set, the laptop rests securely on pillars. When done, the mechanism collapses flush into the bag's side, ready to zip up and carry.

Triangular Stability

The stand forms a rigid triangle using a base, strut, and top plate for secure laptop support.

🎚️

Adjustable Angles

The strut clicks into evenly spaced slots to change the viewing height and tilt.

🧳

Compact Storage

The entire mechanism folds flat and slides into a groove within the bag body.

💨

Ventilation Ready

Design allows space for cooling fans in the base plate to prevent overheating.

The problem

Business travelers and remote workers often lack a proper desk. Placing a laptop on bare thighs restricts airflow, causing the device to overheat and reducing its lifespan. It also forces the user into poor ergonomic postures, leading to neck and back strain. Traditional laptop stands are separate bulky items that must be packed alongside the computer, taking up valuable luggage space. Existing bags with pockets do not provide structural support, leaving the user without a stable platform for typing or viewing content during transit or in tight spaces like airplane seats or trains.

The solution

This design integrates a mechanical stand directly into the bag structure.

  1. Bag Body (1): The main carrier features a hand ring (11) fixed at the top for easy lifting.
  2. Support Assembly (2): Housed in a recessed groove (12), this assembly consists of three linked parts: a support plate (21), a bracket (22), and a flip plate (23).
  3. Deployment: The support plate remains horizontal. The bracket slides out from a slot in the support plate. The flip plate hinges upward. Together, they form a triangular structure.
  4. Adjustment: The bracket engages with locking slots (13) along the length of the support plate. Moving the bracket to different slots changes the angle between the support plate and the flip plate.
  5. Securing: A snap block (14) on the flip plate fits into a snap hole (141) on the support plate to lock the stand flat when folded.
  6. Storage: Sliders (42) on the sides of the support plate run along rails (41) inside the bag’s groove, allowing the whole unit to retract neatly.

Who it is for

  • Corporate Travel Brands: Companies looking to differentiate their business bags by adding functional hardware that eliminates the need for separate accessories.
  • E-commerce Sellers (Amazon/DTC): Sellers targeting the “work from anywhere” niche who want a product with a clear visual demonstration of value (the unfolding stand).
  • University Bookstore Suppliers: Institutions seeking durable, multi-functional bags for students who study in libraries or cafes where desks may be scarce or uncomfortable.
  • Bulk Promotional Buyers: Firms ordering branded gifts for employees, where the added utility of a built-in stand justifies a higher price point than a standard tote.

How it works

The main parts

No.PartWhat it does
1Bag BodyMain enclosure with a recessed groove for storage.
11Hand RingFixed handle for carrying the bag.
12Accommodation GrooveChannel inside the bag that houses the folded stand.
21Support PlateThe base of the triangle; holds the sliding mechanism.
22BracketThe diagonal strut; connects the base to the top plate.
23Flip PlateThe vertical/sloped surface where the laptop rests.
3PillarsProtrusions on the flip plate that stop the laptop from sliding down.
13Locking SlotsEvenly spaced holes/grooves to fix the bracket position.
41, 42Rails and SlidersGuide the assembly in and out of the bag groove.

Operating Steps

  1. Slide Out: Pull the support assembly out of the bag’s accommodation groove using the sliders.
  2. Unfold: Lift the flip plate. Extend the bracket until it reaches the desired slot.
  3. Lock Angle: Click the end of the bracket into one of the locking slots (13) on the support plate. This sets the specific viewing angle.
  4. Place Device: Rest the laptop on the flip plate against the pillars (3). The bottom of the laptop sits flush against the upper surface of the flip plate.
  5. Fold Up: To pack, remove the bracket from the slot, fold the flip plate down onto the support plate (securing with snap block 14), and slide the flat unit back into the groove.

Applications

Airplane and Train Travel

Passengers can deploy the stand on tray tables or directly on their laps. The triangular structure provides stability on vibrating surfaces, preventing the laptop from tipping over during turbulence or train movement.

Café and Co-working Spaces

Users can set up an ergonomic workstation instantly upon arrival. The adjustable angles allow for better screen visibility relative to ambient light sources, reducing glare compared to laying the laptop flat.

Outdoor Field Work

Technicians or inspectors working outdoors can place the bag on uneven ground. The wide base of the support plate ensures the stand remains upright even if the bag itself is slightly tilted, keeping the device accessible.

Student Study Sessions

In crowded libraries where individual desks are limited, students can use the bag as a personal lap-desk. The built-in nature means nothing is forgotten or left behind when packing up quickly.

Where it is less suitable

  • Heavy Desktop Replacements: The mechanical strength of plastic or thin metal brackets is optimized for standard laptops (up to about 15-16 inches). Larger gaming rigs may exceed the load capacity.
  • Rigid Hard-Shell Requirements: This design typically uses flexible fabric for the bag body. Users needing waterproof hard-shell cases for extreme weather may find the soft-body integration less protective.
  • Fixed Height Needs: If a user requires a very high standing desk configuration, this low-profile lap/seat stand will not provide sufficient elevation.

Frequently asked questions

How does the stand adjust its angle?

The bracket (strut) slides along a groove in the base plate. There are several evenly spaced locking slots. By moving the bracket to a different slot, you change the geometry of the triangle, which tilts the top plate forward or backward to suit your viewing preference.

Does the stand hold heavy laptops?

The patent describes a triangular structure for stability. Load capacity depends on the material chosen for manufacturing (ABS plastic vs. Aluminum alloy) and the thickness of the brackets. For standard ultrabooks and mid-sized laptops, the design is robust. Heavy gaming laptops may require reinforced metal parts.

Can I get it with cooling fans?

Yes. Claim 3 specifically describes an option where the support plate contains cooling fans powered by USB. This helps dissipate heat from the laptop’s underside, which is a common issue when working on laps.

Is the bag waterproof?

The patent does not specify the fabric material. Typically, such bags are made from nylon or polyester. You can request water-resistant coatings or specific fabrics like TPU or ballistic nylon during the customization phase.

How thick is the bag when the stand is folded?

The stand folds completely flat and slides into a dedicated groove within the bag body. This keeps the overall profile slim, similar to a standard messenger bag or briefcase, rather than adding bulk like a separate wooden stand would.

What sizes does it come in?

The internal dimensions of the accommodation groove determine the maximum laptop size. We can customize the mold and sewing patterns to fit 13-inch, 14-inch, or 15.6-inch devices.

Can this design be made and sold in the US?

Yes. The patent was filed only in China and has lapsed due to non-payment of fees. It has no US counterparts. Therefore, the specific mechanism described here is free to use in the US. However, always check for other active patents in the general “laptop bag with stand” category.
