Travel Shoe Brush with Pressure-Adjusted Liquid Dispensing

Traditional travel brushes require separate bottles or messy pre-soaking. This design integrates the reservoir into the brush head itself. By pressing the brush against the shoe surface, the user activates a mechanical pump system. The deformation of the elastic bristle plate compresses an internal air pocket, which in turn squeezes a flexible water ball containing cleaning solution. The liquid is pushed through spiral channels and exits near the bristles. Once the pressure is released, a one-way valve lets air back in, returning the components to their starting position for the next stroke.

Pressure Pumping

Squeezing the bristle plate compresses air to push liquid from the internal ball.

🔄

Self-Resetting

A check valve allows air to enter when released, resetting the mechanism automatically.

🌀

Spiral Channels

Liquid flows through tapered spiral tubes to increase speed and wash efficiency.

🎒

Travel Compact

Integrated reservoir eliminates the need for separate bottles; includes rope hole for carrying.

The problem

Travelers often struggle with cleaning shoes on the go. Standard brushes require dipping into a separate container of soap or water, which is messy and impractical for hotel sinks or outdoor use. Pre-moistening the brush beforehand leads to dried-out bristles or wasted solution. There is a need for a tool that holds its own cleaning agent and dispenses it only when needed, controlled directly by the brushing action.

The solution

  1. The device consists of a brush handle (1), a hollow brush plate (2), and a quarter-sphere bristle structure (3).
  2. Inside the brush plate, a pressure water bag part (4) is located between the plate’s lower surface and the bristle structure.
  3. The bristle structure features an elastic spherical plate (301) with bristles (303) and vent grooves (302) equipped with a check valve film (304).
  4. When the user presses the brush against a shoe, the elastic plate deforms. This compression reduces the volume of the air space trapped between the plate and the brush body.
  5. The compressed air pushes against a flexible water ball (401), forcing liquid out through connecting pipes (402) and spiral tubes (403) toward the bristles.
  6. Upon release, the elastic plate returns to shape, creating negative pressure that draws air back in through the check valve, resetting the water ball without external pumping.

Who it is for

  • Travel gear brands looking for compact, all-in-one cleaning solutions for luggage kits.
  • Outdoor equipment retailers selling maintenance tools for hiking boots and athletic shoes.
  • Hotel amenities suppliers providing guest services for quick footwear touch-ups.
  • Sports merchandise companies offering branded accessories for team uniforms and gym shoes.

How it works

The main parts

No.PartWhat it does
1Brush HandleGrip for the user; includes a rope hole for hanging.
2Brush PlateHollow shell housing the mechanism; has a hemispherical notch.
3Bristle StructureElastic plate with bristles and vent grooves; creates the pump chamber.
4Water Bag PartFlexible ball holding liquid; connected to output tubes.
304Check Valve FilmControls air entry into the chamber during recovery.
403Spiral TubeTapered channel that accelerates liquid flow to the bristles.

Operating steps

  1. Press the brush against the shoe surface. The force deforms the elastic bristle plate (301).
  2. Compress the air trapped between the plate and the shell. This pressure acts on the water ball (401).
  3. Dispense liquid as the ball shrinks, pushing fluid through the spiral tubes (403) and out near the bristles.
  4. Release pressure to stop the brush stroke. The elastic plate expands, pulling air back in through the check valve (304).
  5. Reset the system as the water ball returns to its original shape, ready for the next press.

Applications

Hotel Guest Services

Guests can quickly clean mud off dress shoes before a business meeting without needing to fill a sink basin. The integrated reservoir keeps the process tidy and contained within the room.

Hiking and Outdoor Gear

After a trail hike, users can scrub dirt from boot treads using the brush’s built-in supply. The integrated reservoir is a potential packing advantage; confirm final dimensions and refill needs before selecting it for a travel kit.

Sports Locker Rooms

Athletes can maintain uniform cleanliness between games. The pressure-actuated delivery ensures fresh solution is applied only when scrubbing, preventing waste and mess in shared spaces.

Daily Commuter Care

For city dwellers dealing with rain and street grime, this tool offers a quick fix before entering home or office. It avoids the hassle of retrieving separate soap and water containers.

Where it is less suitable

  • Heavy industrial cleaning - The small internal volume limits the amount of liquid available per session compared to bucket-based systems.
  • Thick viscosity agents - The spiral tube design relies on low-viscosity fluids; thick pastes may not flow efficiently through the narrow channels.
  • High-volume commercial use - Frequent refilling via the top inlet might be too slow for large-scale laundry or shoe repair shops.

Frequently asked questions

How does the liquid come out?

There is no battery or motor. When you press the brush against a shoe, the elastic bristle plate deforms. This squeezes the air inside, which pushes the flexible water ball. The liquid inside the ball is forced out through spiral tubes near the bristles.

Does it refill automatically?

No. You must open the inlet buckle on top to add water or cleaner. However, the air intake resets automatically. When you lift the brush, the elastic plate springs back, pulling air in through the check valve so the water ball expands again, ready for the next press.

Can I use any cleaning solution?

The patent describes filling the ball with water or cleaning agents. Viscosity matters; very thick gels may not flow well through the narrow spiral tubes. We recommend testing your specific formula during the prototyping phase.

Is the brush durable?

The key component is the elastic spherical plate. It undergoes repeated deformation. In design, we select elastomers resistant to fatigue and chemicals. Lifespan depends on usage frequency and the harshness of the cleaning agents used.

Why are the tubes spiral-shaped?

The spiral shape helps accelerate the flow of liquid. The patent describes tapered spiral channels carrying liquid toward the bristles. It does not establish measured flow rates or the force needed; both should be tested on prototypes.

Can this design be made and sold in the US?

The patent is filed only in China and is currently in force there. It does not restrict sales in the US. However, because mechanical dispensing brushes are a crowded field, we strongly recommend a freedom-to-operate check to ensure no existing US patents block this specific pumping mechanism.
