Handheld Automatic Bubble Tube with Mechanical Liquid Feed

Most bubble wands need batteries or constant dipping. This handheld automatic bubble tube uses pure mechanics to deliver a continuous stream of bubbles just by rotating the handle. Inside the liquid storage handle, a flexible bag holds the bubble solution. When the connecting cover turns, a spiral liquid guide rod engages an inner ratchet wheel, pushing the liquid up into the connecting pipe. At the top, an air guide shell catches the breeze created by the spinning motion, driving a windward fan that blows air across the bubble outlet nozzle. A film scraping rod wipes the nozzle clean on every pass so the next bubble film forms instantly. A balance end opposite the nozzle keeps the whole rotating head stable, allowing children or adults to swing the tube freely in any direction without spilling or stalling.

The problem

Standard bubble toys require either battery-powered fans or repeated manual dipping of a wand into a small reservoir. Battery-operated models add weight, cost, and electronic waste, while manual dipping interrupts play and often spills liquid. Furthermore, most simple tubes only work when held upright; tilting them cuts off the liquid supply or floods the nozzle, limiting how children can move while playing.

The solution

This design solves those issues by linking the liquid feed, airflow, and nozzle clearing to a single mechanical action: rotating the assembly around the handle’s axis.

  1. A liquid storage handle (1) contains a flexible liquid storage bag that collapses as liquid is used, letting the toy operate at any angle.
  2. A connecting cover (3) sits rotatably on top of the handle. It includes a rotating cover (33) sealed to the handle with a sealing ring (11), and a liquid collecting cover (32) joined by ultrasonic welding.
  3. A connecting pipe (31) extends from the cover, carrying liquid upward.
  4. Inside the handle, a spiral liquid guide rod with a spiral blade engages an inner ratchet wheel (on the handle wall) via a ratchet wheel at its base. This one-way mechanism pushes liquid into the connecting pipe only when turned in the correct direction, preventing backflow.
  5. At the end of the pipe, a bubble assembly (2) features a bubble outlet nozzle (21), an air guide assembly (22), and a film scraping rod (23).
  6. The air guide assembly uses a windward fan (222) inside an air guide shell (2212). Air enters an air inlet (22122) positioned eccentrically to the fan, forcing it to spin in one direction and push air out through an air outlet pipe (22121) toward the nozzle.
  7. A balance end (2213) with a balance plate (22131), balance wing plate (22132), and balance block (22133) sits opposite the nozzle, keeping the rotation smooth.

Who it is for

  • Toy brands and wholesalers looking for a battery-free bubble product that reduces electronic components and packaging costs.
  • Amazon sellers and e-commerce retailers targeting parents who prefer screen-free, mechanically driven outdoor toys for home and club use.
  • Promotional product suppliers needing a customizable, low-maintenance item for events, parks, or retail giveaways.
  • Educational toy distributors sourcing items that demonstrate basic mechanical principles like ratchets and spirals during teaching use.

How it works

The main parts

No.PartWhat it does
1Liquid storage handleHolds the flexible liquid storage bag and houses the inner ratchet wheel.
3Connecting coverRotates on the handle; includes liquid collecting cover (32) and rotating cover (33).
31Connecting pipeCarries liquid from the cover to the bubble assembly.
21Bubble outlet nozzleWhere the bubble film forms and releases.
22Air guide assemblyMounting frame (221), windward fan (222), air guide shell (2212) directing airflow.
23Film scraping rodWipes the nozzle surface via a connecting rod (231) linked to turntables (223).
2213Balance endPlate (22131), wing plate (22132), and block (22133) counterbalancing the nozzle side.
5Threaded coverSecures the rotating cover to the handle via external thread (12).

Operating steps

  1. Fill the handle with bubble solution, sealing the flexible bag inside.
  2. Rotate the connecting pipe around the handle’s axis.
  3. The ratchet engages, turning the spiral liquid guide rod to push liquid up through the through hole into the connecting pipe. The one-way ratchet prevents liquid from falling back.
  4. The spinning motion forces air into the air inlet of the air guide shell, pushing the windward fan to rotate unidirectionally.
  5. Air exits the air outlet pipe across the bubble outlet nozzle, inflating the delivered liquid into bubbles.
  6. The windward fan turns the rotary discs (223), which move the film scraping rod along its guide groove (2311) to wipe the nozzle bottom, clearing old film for the next bubble.
  7. The balance end keeps the heavy nozzle side from dragging, ensuring steady rotation at any angle.

Applications

Backyard and park play

Children can run and swing the tube freely because the flexible bag allows operation at any angle. The mechanical drive means there are no batteries to die mid-game.

Birthday parties and events

Hosts can hand these out without worrying about charging stations or replacing cells. Continuous rotation produces a steady stream of bubbles for group entertainment.

Board-game clubs and teaching use

Educators can use the toy to demonstrate how ratchets, spiral blades, and aerodynamic balance work in a physical, hands-on format during science lessons.

Retail impulse aisles

Wholesalers can stock a lightweight, self-contained unit that requires no electronic compliance testing beyond standard toy rules, simplifying shelf placement.

Where it is less suitable

  • Stationary tabletop bubble machines - this design requires manual rotation by the user; it is not meant to sit flat and run automatically.
  • High-volume commercial foam generation - the output is designed for individual play, not industrial or stage-effect foam volumes.
  • Infant teething products - the moving mechanical parts and bubble liquid make it strictly a toy for older children under supervision.

Frequently asked questions

Does this bubble tube need batteries?

No. The patent describes a purely mechanical system. Rotating the connecting pipe around the handle drives a spiral liquid guide rod and a windward fan, generating both the liquid flow and the airflow needed for bubbles without electrical power.

How does the liquid get to the nozzle without a pump?

A spiral blade on the liquid guide rod acts like an auger. When the user spins the toy, a ratchet wheel engages an inner ratchet wheel inside the handle, turning the rod in one direction only. This pushes the bubble liquid up through the connecting pipe to the nozzle.

Can children hold it upside down or sideways?

Yes. The patent specifies a flexible liquid storage bag inside the handle. As the liquid is used, the bag collapses and displaces air, allowing the toy to function at various angles rather than relying on gravity alone.

What stops the bubbles from clogging the nozzle?

A film scraping rod is connected to turntables driven by the windward fan’s shaft. As the fan spins, the rod slides along a guide post and wipes the bottom surface of the bubble outlet nozzle, clearing the old film so new bubbles can form smoothly.

Why is there a weight on the back of the spinning head?

The balance end, consisting of a plate, wing plate, and block, weighs less than the nozzle and fan side. It counterbalances the rotating assembly so the connecting pipe spins steadily around the handle without wobbling or jerking.

Is the bubble solution included?

The patent focuses on the mechanical device itself. Whether the bubble solution is pre-filled or sold separately is set in design and confirmed on prototypes based on the buyer’s retail strategy.

Can this design be made and sold in the US?

The patent was filed only in China and has lapsed due to non-payment of annual fees, so it does not restrict the design in the US or in China. However, bubble toys and mechanical mechanisms may be covered by other active US patents - see Patent & Production - so we recommend a freedom-to-operate check before volume production.
