What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a camping lamp comprising a main lamp holder with a lamp holder body and a main light source. The lamp holder body includes a columnar portion that is hollow inside to form a cavity for accommodating a flashlight. The main light source is arranged along the outer surface of the columnar portion. A limiting assembly matches between the lamp holder body and the flashlight to lock it in place. A pop-up assembly at the cavity bottom includes a spring and a gasket. A cover body made of partially light-transmitting material fits over the cavity opening when the flashlight is fully stored. The limiting assembly includes a first limiting piece and a second limiting piece, both semicircular, which move relative to each other under the control of an operating piece. When close together, they form a smaller opening to grip the flashlight; when moved apart, the opening widens to let the flashlight pass. The pieces feature interacting first and second slopes, and a return spring pushes them together when no external force is applied. Pressing the operating piece vertically causes the slopes to interact and separate the limiting pieces.
Claim 2 - at least one of the limiting pieces has a guide slope on its outer side to assist insertion.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and is currently in force in China until at most 2040-01-20 (if annual fees are paid). Making or selling this exact design in China needs the owner’s permission. It has no US or other foreign counterpart.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Portable lighting and combination lantern-flashlight designs are active areas for US and international patents held by various outdoor equipment manufacturers, so a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of the hollow-column storage and semicircular limiter mechanism is recommended before tooling.
- Flashlight dimensions. The cavity diameter and depth must match the specific flashlight model chosen for the product line; tooling for the limiting assembly depends on the flashlight’s outer profile.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Cavity size | Diameter and depth set in design to fit the chosen flashlight tube |
| Main light source | LED bead count, arrangement pattern and color temperature |
| Cover body | Material transparency and color for different scene-lighting effects |
| Lampshade | Tint, texture and thickness of the insect-blocking shield |
| Power supply | Built-in battery capacity, charging port type |
| Housing finish | Surface texture, paint or rubberized coating |
Things to plan for (US market)
- FCC Part 15 - electronic lighting devices with oscillators or digital circuits sold in the US require FCC compliance for electromagnetic interference.
- UL 588 / UL 8750 - safety standards for seasonal/decorative lighting and LED equipment, often requested by US retailers for battery-powered lamps.
- UN 38.3 - if the camping lamp ships with built-in lithium batteries, the cells must pass UN 38.3 transport testing.
- California Prop 65 - plastics, coatings and battery components are screened for listed chemicals.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - target flashlight size, brightness requirements, battery preference and quantity.
- Design - CAD modeling of the hollow column, limiting assembly slopes, spring rates and LED board layout.
- Prototype - 3D-printed or machined samples to test the limiter action, pop-up force and scene-lighting effect.
- Pilot run - injection-molded parts assembled for drop testing, cycle testing of the operating piece and electrical safety checks.
- Production - plastic injection molding, PCB assembly, spring winding, final assembly and packaging.
Quantities & timeline
The main lamp holder body, columnar portion, limiting pieces and operating part require precision injection molds. The pop-up spring and return springs need wire-forming dies. Certification tests for FCC and battery transport run concurrently with pilot builds. Send us your flashlight dimensions, brightness targets, battery type, cover color, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
