What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a wrist flashlight with a hook-and-loop wrist strap, a base fixed on the strap with an axle, and a lamp that turns on the axle. A toothed disc fixed on the axle meshes with teeth in the lamp’s hole; the lamp can slide on the axle so the teeth can separate. A clip with a slider in an annular groove keeps the lamp on the base. The axle has a round part and a square part sliding in a slot in the base, and a push-push latch - a cam track with closing, pause and opening points and a spring-loaded lever - holds the teeth apart or lets the spring mesh them.
Claim 2 - the cam track is on a block on the square part, with the lever and a tension spring on either side. Claims 3-4 - a button on the end of the axle in a recess of the lamp, with a step and a spring around the axle. Claim 5 - a waterproof switch and brightness button on the base, a USB charging port and battery in the lamp. Claim 6 - a dial on the lamp and a pointer on the button.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China. It is in force in China, so making or selling this design in China would need the owner’s permission while it lasts (at most until 2041-09-17). It has no US or other foreign counterpart and does not restrict the design outside China.
Before production, keep in mind:
- Other patents may exist. Wearable lights, wrist lights and rotating lamp heads appear in US patents. Have a freedom-to-operate (FTO) search done by a US patent attorney before volume production.
- Production location. Because the Chinese patent is in force, plan where the product is made with your patent counsel.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Light | LED output, beam (spot or flood), red night mode - to be confirmed in design |
| Battery | Capacity and run time; USB-C charging |
| Strap | Hook-and-loop, silicone or elastic band; reflective strip |
| Housing | Colors, water resistance level, soft-touch finish |
| Angle lock | Number of click positions (teeth on the disc) |
| Branding | Logo, packaging, hospital or company programs |
Things to plan for (US market)
- Batteries and chargers - lithium cells need UN 38.3 transport testing and UL safety testing; charging circuits should be tested to UL standards.
- FCC - LED drivers and charging electronics fall under FCC Part 15 for unintentional emissions.
- Light output claims - follow the ANSI/PLATO FL 1 flashlight standard if lumens, run time or water resistance are stated.
- Not a medical device - market it as a general-purpose light; a light sold for diagnosis would fall under FDA rules.
- Materials - check the strap and coatings for California Proposition 65 substances.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - light output, battery, strap and quantity.
- Design - housing, cam latch and tooth count, water sealing, electronics.
- Prototype - working samples for comfort, angle lock and run-time tests.
- Pilot run - small batch with battery and FCC testing.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
The housing, lamp and latch parts need injection molds, and the electronics need certification. Send us your light output, battery, strap, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
