Foldable Game Console Stand with Adjustable Back Support

Most game console stands are fixed shapes that take up shelf space even when empty. This design solves that by letting the back support and bottom support rotate and fold flat into the base plate. A rotating knob on the side drives a first rotating rod; a positioning clamping block on the rod snaps into one of several positioning clamping grooves on a limiting ferrule, locking the lean angle. The back panel itself extends or retracts: a telescopic inner supporting rod slides inside a fixed outer sleeve, held in place by an elastic clamping block engaging a limiting clamping hole, so it fits consoles of different lengths. A second limiting rotating assembly at the front carries a bottom adjusting supporting assembly that can also be set for different console thicknesses. When play time is over, both assemblies swing down to lie flat.

The problem

Game machine bases used at home or in clubs are often built as single, fixed structures. Because the shape cannot change, a stand made for one console size may not hold a larger or smaller unit securely. When the console is put away, the rigid stand still takes up the same amount of shelf or desk space. Players who own multiple consoles, or families who clear the living room after a session, need a support that adapts to the device and then gets out of the way.

The solution

This patent describes a base plate with two separate rotating hinge assemblies—one at the rear and one at the front—that allow the supporting parts to fold down flat.

  1. The base plate (1) serves as the foundation.
  2. A first limiting rotating assembly (2) at the front end of the base plate sets the leaning angle. Turning the rotating button (203) rotates a first rotating rod (204). A positioning clamping block (207) on the rod engages a positioning clamping groove (206) on a limiting ferrule (205), locking the angle in place.
  3. An adjusting back supporting assembly (3) connects to the top of the first rotating assembly. It includes a fixed outer sleeve (302) and a telescopic inner supporting rod (304) that slides inside it. An elastic clamping block (305) on the rod snaps into a limiting clamping hole (303) on the sleeve to lock the extended length.
  4. A second limiting rotating assembly (4) is mounted at the front end of the first rotating assembly. It uses a mounting side plate (401), a second rotating rod (402), and a storage outer sleeve (403) to pivot the front support.
  5. A bottom adjusting supporting assembly (5) sits on the outer side of the second rotating assembly to cradle the bottom of the game machine, accommodating different thicknesses.

When the stand is not in use, the back supporting assembly and the bottom supporting assembly rotate around their respective rods and fold flat against the base plate, reducing the storage footprint.

Who it is for

  • Consumer electronics accessory brands looking for a foldable stand to bundle with home game consoles or sell as an aftermarket upgrade.
  • Amazon sellers and e-commerce retailers in the gaming category who need a product that ships flat and saves warehouse volume.
  • Board-game clubs and teaching centers that set up and break down tabletop game machines frequently between sessions.
  • Wholesalers supplying retail stores where shelf space is limited and packaging size affects display costs.

Operating steps

  1. Unfold the stand. Rotate the adjusting back supporting assembly (3) upward from the base plate (1). Rotate the second limiting rotating assembly (4) and the bottom adjusting supporting assembly (5) forward into position.
  2. Set the lean angle. Turn the rotating button (203). This spins the first rotating rod (204) until the positioning clamping block (207) drops into the desired positioning clamping groove (206) on the limiting ferrule (205).
  3. Adjust the length. Pull or push the telescopic inner supporting rod (304) inside the fixed outer sleeve (302) until the elastic clamping block (305) clicks into the correct limiting clamping hole (303) for the specific game machine size.
  4. Place the console. Rest the back of the game machine against the adjusting back supporting assembly (3) and the front bottom edge on the bottom adjusting supporting assembly (5).
  5. Fold for storage. Remove the console. Rotate the back assembly and the bottom assembly downward until they lie flat against the base plate (1).

Applications

Home entertainment setups

Players who use their living room for multiple activities need to clear the game machine away after playing. This stand folds flat, allowing it to slide into a drawer or sit behind a media cabinet without taking up visible space.

Board-game clubs and teaching rooms

Clubs that host tabletop game nights often switch between different electronic board-game units or teaching devices. The telescopic back support and adjustable bottom assembly let staff fit various machine sizes on a single stand, while the folding feature makes stacking them between events straightforward.

E-commerce fulfillment and retail display

Sellers shipping console accessories benefit from a product that packs flat, reducing box dimensions and shipping weight. On retail shelves, the folded profile allows more units to fit in the same display area compared to fixed-shape stands.

Travel and LAN gatherings

Players transporting their own equipment to friends’ houses or local gatherings need gear that packs tightly. Folding the back and bottom supports flush with the base plate keeps the stand compact inside a bag alongside the console and cables.

Where it is less suitable

  • Heavy arcade cabinets - the base plate and telescopic rods are described for standard game machines; large commercial cabinets require heavier steel framing.
  • Wall-mounted displays - this is a freestanding base plate design, not a bracket intended for mounting hardware to a wall.
  • Outdoor environments - the patent does not describe weather sealing or UV-resistant materials for permanent outdoor placement.

Frequently asked questions

How does the angle adjustment work?

A rotating button on the side turns a first rotating rod. A positioning clamping block on that rod snaps into one of several positioning clamping grooves on a limiting ferrule. Each groove corresponds to a different leaning angle for the game machine.

Can the stand fit different console sizes?

Yes. The back support uses a telescopic inner supporting rod that slides inside a fixed outer sleeve. An elastic clamping block on the rod engages a limiting clamping hole on the sleeve to lock the length. The bottom support can also be adjusted for different thicknesses.

How does it fold for storage?

The adjusting back supporting assembly and the bottom adjusting supporting assembly are mounted on separate rotating assemblies. When the console is removed, both assemblies pivot downward to lie flat against the base plate, hiding the supports and saving space.

What materials are used?

The patent describes the structural components—rods, sleeves, plates, ferrules and blocks—but does not specify the exact materials. Material selection (plastic or metal) is set in design and confirmed on prototypes based on the target weight capacity.

Is it stable when a heavy console is placed on it?

The patent focuses on the folding and adjusting mechanism rather than load ratings. Stability depends on the base plate footprint, material strength and the engagement of the clamping blocks. These factors are set in design and confirmed on prototypes during testing.

Does it come with padding to protect the console?

The patent mentions a buffer pad and a compression-resistant strip as part of the adjusting back supporting assembly. Their exact size and material are to be confirmed in design.

Can this design be made and sold in the US?

The patent was filed only in China and is in force in China until at most 2044-05-13 (if annual fees are paid). It has no US counterpart, so this specific document does not restrict making or selling the design in the United States. However, other US patents may cover similar folding or adjustable console stands, so a freedom-to-operate review is recommended before production.
