What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - an outdoor display screen made of several LED unit cabinets, each with a cabinet frame and a rear body fixed to the inner wall of the frame; the frame has magnets, and frame and rear body are joined by magnetic attraction. LED modules with an iron sheet rim are magnetically held on the inside of the frame. A vertical locking mechanism joins cabinets top to bottom, and a power supply and signal unit is connected at the back of the frame. Lock handles on the left and right of the frame join cabinets side to side when turned, and the four back side walls of the frame are hollowed arc frames.
Claim 2 - the rear body is a radial hollowed structure. Claim 3 - iron blocks in the rear body’s corners, with magnets at matching points on the frame. Claim 4 - the vertical lock has a rotating shaft with a handle and a limiting part that passes through the cabinets and snaps on when turned. Claim 5 - spring locating pins on the frame for alignment.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and has lapsed, so it no longer restricts anyone in China either. It has no US or other foreign counterpart.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Modular LED display cabinets, magnetic module mounting and cabinet locks are heavily patented, and LED display imports into the US have been the subject of patent disputes, including ITC investigations; a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of the cabinet, module mounting and locking features is essential before tooling.
- Outdoor sealing. Magnetic mounting and a hollowed rear body must still give the module and electronics the ingress protection an outdoor screen needs; the seal design is proven by IP testing.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Cabinet size | 500 x 500, 500 x 1000, 960 x 960 mm or custom |
| Pixel pitch | Outdoor pitches such as P4-P10 with matching modules |
| Frame | Die-cast aluminum or magnesium alloy; finish color |
| Service access | Front service by magnets, rear service, or both |
| Electronics | Power supply brand, receiving card system, redundant power |
| Brightness | High-brightness outdoor LEDs, auto-dimming sensors |
Things to plan for (US market)
- UL 48 (electric signs) / UL 879 - outdoor LED signs are normally listed to UL 48; cities and installers ask for the listing.
- FCC Part 15 - LED drivers, receiving cards and power supplies must meet FCC emission limits.
- IP rating - outdoor screens are typically specified at IP65 front and IP54 rear or better; tested on samples.
- Structural and wind load - permanent installations need engineered mounting for local building codes.
- Energy - power supplies should meet DOE external power supply efficiency rules where applicable.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - screen size, pixel pitch, site and quantity.
- Design - cabinet dimensions, magnet layout, locks, sealing, rear body cooling.
- Prototype - sample cabinets tested for flatness, seam width, IP rating and temperature.
- Pilot run - a small wall for UL and FCC testing and installation trials.
- Production - volume production, flight cases or crates, shipping.
Quantities & timeline
The frame and rear body need die-casting molds with machining fixtures, the magnets and locks need sourcing and assembly fixtures, and modules, power supplies and receiving cards are matched to the chosen pitch. Most development time goes into sealing and thermal testing. Send us your screen size, pixel pitch, installation type, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
