What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a bicycle phone holder with a phone cradle, a snap plate, a movable arm, a connector, a flashlight clamp, a flashlight clamp arm and a handlebar clamp. The plate and arm are under the cradle; the arm is bolted to the handlebar clamp; the connector and flashlight arm are under the arm, and the flashlight clamp is riveted to the flashlight arm.
Claim 2 - the handlebar clamp is two clamping parts joined at one end by a hinge pin and at the other by a bolt and nut. Claim 3 - the cradle has grips on both sides. Claim 4 - the flashlight clamp is lined with anti-slip silicone plugs. Claim 5 - a rubber pad sits between the two handlebar clamp parts. Claim 6 - the plate has a buckle that engages a catch under the cradle.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and has expired, so it no longer restricts anyone in China either. It has no US or other foreign counterpart.
Before production, keep in mind:
- Other patents may exist. Bike phone mounts are a crowded field: quick-release cradles and twist-lock mounts are covered by many US utility and design patents held by mount brands. Have a freedom-to-operate (FTO) search done by a US patent attorney before volume production, and design the cradle interface independently.
- Lighting claims. If the product is sold with a light, check how it is described: a flashlight on a holder is not marketed as a certified bicycle headlight.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Phone cradle | Spring-grip, four-corner or case-interface cradle; phone size range |
| Flashlight clamp | Diameter range, quick-release strap, or a dedicated LED light designed to fit |
| Handlebar clamp | Bar diameters, stem-cap mount, scooter stem mount |
| Adjustment | Ball joint or ratchet angles for phone and light separately |
| Materials | Glass-filled nylon, PC, aluminum arm; silicone or TPE pads |
| Branding | Colors, logo molding, retail packaging |
Things to plan for (US market)
- Bicycle reflectors and lights - 16 CFR 1512 sets reflector requirements for bicycles as sold; an accessory flashlight does not replace them and should not be marketed as doing so.
- Battery - if a branded rechargeable light is bundled, its cells need UL 2054 or UL 62133 and UN 38.3 transport testing.
- Prop 65 - check plastics, rubber pads and coatings for listed substances when selling in California.
- Vibration and drop testing - in-house testing of the cradle retention so phones are not lost on rough roads.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - phone and light sizes, bar sizes, target price and quantity.
- Design - cradle, clamp and arm adjustment adapted to your range.
- Prototype - 3D-printed and then tooled samples for fit and vibration tests.
- Pilot run - small batch for road testing and packaging checks.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
Each plastic part - cradle, plate, arm, clamp halves and flashlight clamp - needs its own injection mold, and the silicone pads need a compression mold. Send us your sizes, materials, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
