What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China. It is still in force in China, so making or selling this design in China would need the owner’s permission while it lasts. It has no US or other foreign counterpart and does not restrict the design outside China.
Before production, keep in mind:
- Other patents may exist. Bassinets, play yards and folding baby frames are covered by many US patents held by major baby-gear brands. Use your own styling and folding details and have a freedom-to-operate (FTO) search done by a US patent attorney before volume production.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Bed | Matched bassinet bed, mattress and fabric shell - designed and tested with the frame |
| Size | Bed size within the bassinet standard - to be confirmed in design |
| Frame | Steel or aluminum tube; powder-coat colors |
| Rocking | Rocking or a lock to hold it still |
| Fabrics | Breathable mesh sides, washable covers |
| Packaging | Travel bag and retail box |
Things to plan for (US market)
- Infant sleep products - a bassinet or cradle must meet the CPSC mandatory standard for bassinets and cradles (16 CFR 1218), tested by a CPSC-accepted lab, with a Children’s Product Certificate, tracking labels, warnings, and a product registration card.
- Rocking and stability - stability, rocking angle and the lock-out are part of the standard’s tests.
- Materials - lead and phthalate limits (CPSIA); flammability of fabrics; mattress fit.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - bed type, size, materials and quantity.
- Design - frame, locks, folding, and the matched bed to meet the standard.
- Prototype - samples for standard pre-tests: stability, locks, mattress fit.
- Pilot run - small batch for third-party certification testing.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
The frame is bent and riveted tube with molded hub and joints; the bed is cut-and-sew. Certification testing is part of the project timeline. Send us your specification, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
