Updated October 23, 2026Adjustable-Length Back Scrubber Strap with Push-Button Handles
A back scrubber that adjusts to the person using it. A mesh scrubbing strap with a reinforcing core runs into a handle at each end. Press the button and the strap slides; let go and a cord-lock inside the handle grips it. A spring inside the handle keeps the strap taut, and a rubber ring on each handle stops it slipping in soapy hands.
- China utility model - lapsed
- No filings outside China
- Bath & body
- Mesh + plastic handles, no electronics

The problem
Back scrubbers come in fixed lengths: too long for children, too short for tall adults. Woven strap scrubbers stretch and lose their shape after repeated pulling, and round sponges or bath puffs simply cannot reach the middle of the back. With shower gel on them, handles and straps slip out of the hands.
The solution
- The scrubbing strap (1) - mesh or a foaming fabric - has a reinforcing strip (2) sewn or glued along its inside, so it does not stretch out of shape.
- Each end of the reinforcing strip passes through a clasp (3) into a handle (4).
- Inside the handle, a cord-lock (6) - a spring chamber (61), a spring (62) and a push button (63) - grips the strip. Press the button to let the strip slide; release it and the strip is locked.
- Beyond the lock, the strip is tied to a tension spring or elastic band (5), so it stays taut when let out.
- A non-slip rubber ring (7) around each handle improves the grip.

Who it is for
- Bath and body brands looking for a back scrubber with a clear “fits everyone” feature.
- Amazon and drugstore sellers in the bath-accessory category.
- Hotel and spa suppliers and family households where one tool is shared.
How it works
The main parts
| No. | Part | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Scrubbing strap | Mesh or foaming fabric that holds the soap and scrubs. |
| 2 | Reinforcing strip | Sewn or glued along the strap; carries the pulling force and runs into the handles. |
| 3 | Clasps | Join the strap to the handles. |
| 4 | Handles | Tubes held in each hand. |
| 5 | Elastic part | Tension spring or rubber band inside the handle, tied to the end of the strip. |
| 6 | Cord-lock | Grips the strip at the chosen length. |
| 61 | Spring chamber | Has at least two through-holes for the strip. |
| 62 | Spring | Pushes the button up. |
| 63 | Button | Has holes that line up with the chamber’s holes only when pressed. |
| 7 | Non-slip ring | Rubber ring around the handle. |
The cord-lock

The strip passes through holes in the spring chamber (61) and through holes in the button (63).
- At rest, the spring (62) pushes the button up, so its holes are offset from the chamber’s holes. The strip is pinched and cannot move.
- When you press the button, the holes line up and the strip slides freely.
- A knot or crimped metal end on the strip stops it from pulling out.

Setting the length
- Press the button on one handle.
- Pull the strap to the length you need - the elastic part (5) inside the handle stretches.
- Release the button - the strap is locked at that length, with the elastic keeping it taut.
- To shorten it again, press the button and let the elastic draw the strip back in.
Applications
Family bathrooms
One scrubber set short for a child and long for a tall adult.
Older adults and people with limited reach
A back strap is easier than twisting to reach the back with a sponge; the length can be set for comfort.
Gyms, spas and saunas
Washing after workouts and in steam rooms, where a firm scrub is wanted.
Hotels and guest amenities
A shared-design scrubber for different guests, with replaceable straps.
Travel
The strap can be shortened and rolled up for a toiletry bag.
Where it is less suitable
- Sensitive or broken skin - a soft washcloth or sponge is gentler.
- People who cannot raise both arms - a long-handled brush may be easier to use with one hand.
Frequently asked questions
How much can the length change?
The range depends on the strip length stored in the handles and the stretch of the spring or elastic. It is set during design - for example to cover children and tall adults.
Will the strap slip while scrubbing?
The cord-lock pinches the reinforcing strip whenever the button is released; lock strength is tested on prototypes.
What is the reinforcing strip for?
It carries the pulling force, so the scrubbing material does not stretch out of shape over time.
Can the strap be replaced?
Yes, the design can use replaceable straps, which is good for hygiene and repeat sales.
Will the spring rust?
We specify stainless or coated springs, or a rubber band as the patent also allows, and handles that drain and dry.
Is it gentle enough for sensitive skin?
That depends on the strap material - soft microfiber or fine mesh versions can be offered alongside exfoliating ones.
Can this design be made and sold in the US?
The patent was filed only in China and lapsed in 2019, so it does not restrict anyone. Other back-scrubber designs may be patented - see Patent & Production - so we recommend a freedom-to-operate check before volume production.
