What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a telescoping foot structure for a children’s bedside bed: an outer foot tube and a telescoping tube inserted into it from one end, with a telescoping wheel at the tube’s outer end and its inner end sliding inside the foot tube. A telescoping outer tube in the foot tube holds a sliding telescoping inner tube connected to the telescoping tube, and a spring around the inner tube, held between the telescoping tube and the outer tube, returns the wheel.

Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Bedside sleepers, their attachment systems and height adjusters are patented by several US and European juvenile brands, so a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of the base and attachment is needed before tooling.
- Attachment safety. The bedside sleeper standard puts great weight on the gap between crib and adult bed; strap design and the retracted-foot position are tested together.
