What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a mosquito fan with a housing having an air inlet and outlet; a rotating mosquito-sound detector on the housing, made of a base, a turning seat with the detector circuit, a turning mechanism, a directional microphone and a concave sound-collecting dish with the microphone at its center; a fan and humidifier control circuit that receives the detector’s signal; a fan; a humidifier next to the outlet; and a liquid tank with liquid next to the fan and humidifier.
Claim 2 - the inlet or outlet has guide vanes. Claim 3 - the turning mechanism: motors with internal and external gears turn the head around, and a worm drive with a rack and slide tilts the dish up and down. Claims 4-10 - further features described in the patent, including details of the detector circuit and infrared body sensors that pause or change the spray when people are near.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China. It is still in force in China, so making or selling this design in China would need the owner’s permission while it lasts (at most until 2028-08-02). It has no US or other foreign counterpart and does not restrict the design outside China.
Before production, keep in mind:
- Other patents may exist. Acoustic insect detection and smart repellent dispensers are an active patent area, including patents on recognizing mosquito wingbeat frequencies. Have a freedom-to-operate (FTO) search done by a US patent attorney before volume production.
- The liquid is regulated separately from the device. The repellent or insecticide must be legal for the use; marketing claims for the device are limited by EPA rules.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Detector | Fixed or scanning microphone, detection range and sensitivity, activity indicator |
| Spray | Mister type, output levels, timer limits, refill cartridge design |
| Fan | Size, speed settings, oscillation; use as a plain cooling fan |
| Power | Mains adapter, rechargeable battery, solar panel for outdoor units |
| Smart features | App alerts, mosquito activity log, schedules (Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) |
| Housing | Tower, tabletop or wall-mounted; weatherproof outdoor version |
Things to plan for (US market)
- EPA (FIFRA) - device - a mechanical repeller is a pesticide device: no product registration, but it must be made in an EPA-registered establishment and its labeling cannot make false or misleading claims.
- EPA (FIFRA) - liquid - any repellent or insecticide liquid sold with or for the unit must be EPA-registered (or qualify as a 25(b) minimum-risk product) and registered in each state where sold.
- Electrical safety - UL 507 (electric fans) and UL 998 (humidifiers) for the fan and mister, with a UL-listed adapter.
- FCC Part 15 - for the controller, and authorization for any Wi-Fi or Bluetooth module.
- Battery - rechargeable versions need UL 2054 or UL 62133 cells and UN 38.3 transport testing.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - indoor or outdoor use, liquid type, smart features and quantity.
- Design - detector, fan, mister and tank engineered together; refill format chosen.
- Prototype - working units for detection tests, mist output and noise.
- Pilot run - small batch with UL and FCC testing; EPA labeling review.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
The housing, detector head, dish and tank need injection molds; the electronics need a microphone front end, detection firmware and certification, and the refill format must match a registered liquid. Send us your use case, features, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
