What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a shower curtain for a shower house comprising a bearing assembly (1) and a connection component (2) arranged on two sides of a doorframe. A passage is formed between them. A shower curtain cloth (3) is wound on the bearing assembly. The free end of the cloth moves horizontally on the connection component or resets to the bearing assembly, unrolling to block the passage or rewinding to open it.
Claim 2 - the bearing assembly includes a strip-shaped shell (1.1) with a spool (1.2) inside. Both ends of the spool rotatably match the shell, and the cloth winds around the outside of the spool. Claim 3 - the shell has at least one mounting block (4) removably connected to it. The mounting block has a bonding plane (4.1) for adhering to a wall. Claim 4 - there are two mounting blocks spaced along the length of the shell. Claim 5 - a reduction torsion spring inside the shell drives the spool to rewind the cloth. A freewheel clutch allows the spool to rotate freely when unwinding but engages or locks when rewinding. Claim 6 - the connection component includes a first magnetic stripe (2.1), and the free end of the cloth has a second magnetic stripe (5); the two stripes attract magnetically. Claim 7 - the free end of the cloth has a connection strap (6) embedding the second magnetic stripe. The strap has an arc surface mating with a concave arc surface on the connection component, allowing rotation to vary the magnetic attraction. Claim 8 - the bearing assembly has a scraping article (7) contacting the outer surface of the cloth. Claim 9 - the scraping articles are arranged in pairs with a gap through which the cloth passes.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and is currently in force in China until at most 2028-08-16 (if annual fees are paid). It has no US or other foreign counterpart. However, because it remains active in China, making or selling this exact design in China needs the owner’s permission.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Retractable screens, roller blinds, and magnetic shower closures are widely patented in the US and Europe. A freedom-to-operate (FTO) review covering the spool mechanism, magnetic edge seals, and scraping features is necessary before tooling.
- Spring tension and cloth weight. The reduction torsion spring must be calibrated to the specific weight and dimensions of the chosen shower curtain cloth to ensure reliable rewinding without snapping back too forcefully.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Shell length | Cut to match standard shower heights (e.g., about 72 to 80 inches) or custom sizes |
| Cloth material | PEVA, EVA, polyester, or treated fabrics to be confirmed in design |
| Magnetic strength | Stripe thickness and grade set in design / confirmed on prototypes |
| Mounting method | Adhesive bonding planes, screw holes, or hybrid brackets |
| Finish | Anodized aluminum, painted steel, or plastic shells in various colors |
| Scraping article | Silicone or rubber wiper profiles, paired spacing adjusted to cloth thickness |
Things to plan for (US market)
- CPSC 16 CFR 1201 - architectural glazing standards if the shower enclosure incorporates glass panels near the curtain mechanism.
- California Prop 65 - materials such as PVC, certain adhesives, and magnetic compounds must be screened for listed chemicals.
- ASTM D2122 - standard test method for determining dimensions of thermoplastic pipes and fittings, relevant if extruded plastic profiles are used for the shell.
- Mold and mildew resistance - while not a federal mandate, US retailers commonly require antimicrobial testing for wet-area textiles.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - specify shower dimensions, cloth material preferences, and target market requirements.
- Design - engineer the shell profile, spool diameter, torsion spring rate, and magnetic stripe alignment.
- Prototype - produce samples to test the smoothness of the freewheel clutch, rewind speed, and magnetic holding force.
- Pilot run - conduct cycle testing for the spring mechanism and adhesion tests for the mounting blocks.
- Production - extrude or roll-form the shells, wind the springs, assemble the clutches, cut and hem the cloth, and package.
Quantities & timeline
The shell requires extrusion dies or roll-forming tooling depending on the chosen material. The spool and freewheel clutch need precision injection molds, and the torsion springs are wound to specification. Adhesive curing times for the mounting blocks and waterproof testing add to the schedule. Send us your required height, cloth material, mounting preference, estimated quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
