Soap-Dispensing Dish Brush That Refills in Its Stand

Soap-dispensing dish brushes have a familiar flaw: the handle has to be unscrewed and refilled from a bottle, which is messy, so most people stop using the feature. This brush refills itself. Its stand holds a detergent tank above the brush; when the brush is parked in the stand, a filling channel and one-way valve connect the tank to a small buffer chamber in the brush body and soap flows in. Off the stand, the valve closes so nothing drips. While washing, the user presses a soft button on the brush and a dose of soap comes out through holes into the bristles, brush ball or sponge.

  • China utility model - in force in China until Jun 2030 at most
  • No filings outside China
  • Dish brushes & sink caddies
  • PP or ABS body, valves, bristles or sponge

🔁

Refills when parked

Putting the brush back in its stand connects it to the detergent tank and tops up its chamber.

👆

Press to dose

A soft button on the brush squeezes the chamber and pushes soap into the bristles.

🚫

No drips

One-way valves close the filling channel and the outlet holes when the brush is lifted out.

🧽

Swappable heads

Bristles, a brush ball or a sponge can be used as the scrubbing part.

The problem

Dish brushes with a soap-filled handle are popular because they save reaching for the bottle - but the handle holds little, and refilling it means unscrewing a cap and pouring detergent into a narrow opening over the sink. Many users give up and use the brush dry. Countertop soap dispensers solve dosing but not the brush. The patent combines the two: a stand that stores the detergent and a brush that refills itself every time it is put away.

The solution

The patent splits the tool into a docking stand and a brush:

  1. The liquid storage unit (1) is a detergent tank (3) held in a stand (4).
  2. The cleaning unit (2) is a brush body (5) with a scrubbing part (6) - bristles, a brush ball or a sponge.
  3. Inside the brush body is a buffer chamber (8) for detergent.
  4. The stand has a filling channel (7) that meets a filling hole (9) in the brush when the brush is parked. A first one-way valve opens when the brush is inserted and closes when it is lifted out, so the channel does not drip.
  5. The tank sits higher than the chamber, so detergent flows down into the brush; the tank can also have a press pump (32). Air vents (8a, 3a) on chamber and tank let the liquid flow.
  6. The brush body has outlet holes (61) toward the bristles, with a check valve (52), and an elastic press button (53). Pressing it squeezes the chamber and pushes detergent out to the bristles.

Patent figure 2 - first version: the brush (2) parked in the stand (4) below the detergent tank (3).

Who it is for

  • Kitchen and cleaning-tool brands looking for a dish brush with a real refill advantage over existing soap-handle brushes.
  • Sink caddy and organizer makers who can add a detergent function to a product customers already buy.
  • Detergent brands that want a branded dispensing system using their own refill bottles.
  • Bathroom and household-cleaning lines - the same docking idea works for tile and toilet brushes with cleaner.

How it works

The main parts

Patent figure 3 - exploded view: tank (3), stand (4), brush body (5), scrubbing part (6) and the valve parts.
No.PartWhat it does
3Detergent tankStores detergent above the brush; optional press pump (32).
4StandHolds the tank and the parked brush; contains the filling channel (7).
5Brush bodyHandle with the buffer chamber (8) and filling hole (9).
6Scrubbing partBristles, brush ball or sponge.
7Filling channelCarries detergent from the tank to the brush.
8Buffer chamberSmall reservoir inside the brush.

Using it

  1. Fill the tank in the stand with dish soap.
  2. Park the brush in the stand. The valve opens and the chamber fills.
  3. Lift the brush out to wash. The valve closes.
  4. Press the button to add soap to the bristles as needed.
  5. Put it back - it refills while it waits for the next wash.

Other versions

The patent shows four layouts: the basic dock, a second valve arrangement, a wall or counter box with a horizontal brush (figures 10-11), and a round tank with an angled brush (figures 12-13).

Soap-Dispensing Dish Brush That Refills in Its Stand - Patent drawing - fourth version
Patent figure 12 - fourth version: a round tank (1) with an angled brush (2).

Applications

Home kitchen sinks

A brush that always has soap without refilling a handle, standing tidily by the sink.

Small apartments and RVs

One sink-side unit replaces a soap bottle and a brush holder.

Office kitchens and break rooms

Shared brushes that stay ready and do not leave puddles of soap.

Bathroom cleaning

A toilet or tile brush that docks in a cleaner tank - one version of the same idea.

Branded detergent systems

A detergent brand can sell the stand and brush with refill bottles that fit the tank.

Where it is less suitable

  • Commercial dishwashing - restaurants use pre-rinse sprayers and dish machines; this is a household tool.
  • Thick or gel detergents - gravity filling suits ordinary liquid dish soap; very thick products may not flow through the valves.

Frequently asked questions

How does the brush refill itself?

The stand holds a detergent tank above the brush. When you park the brush, a filling channel in the stand meets a hole in the brush body and a one-way valve opens, so soap flows down into a small chamber in the brush.

Will it drip when I lift the brush out?

The patent places a one-way valve at the filling channel that closes when the brush is removed, and a check valve at the outlet holes, so soap only comes out when you press the button.

How much soap comes out per press?

The patent does not give a dose. The chamber and outlet sizes are set in design, and the dose is tuned on prototypes with ordinary dish soap.

Which detergents can I use?

Regular liquid dish soap flows best. Very thick gels may need a different valve or the tank’s press pump; we test the products you plan to recommend.

Can the brush head be replaced?

The patent names bristles, brush balls and sponges as the scrubbing part. A replaceable head is a common design choice and adds a refill sale.

Can it be wall-mounted?

Yes. One version in the patent is a box-style unit with the brush lying sideways, which suits wall or splash-back mounting.

Can this design be made and sold in the US?

The patent was filed only in China, so it does not restrict the design in the US. It is in force in China until June 2030 at most, and making or selling it there needs the owner’s permission. Soap-dispensing brushes may be covered by other US patents - see Patent & Production - so we recommend a freedom-to-operate check before volume production.
