Patent CN212408329U
Updated October 24, 2026Ring-Shaped Outdoor Lantern That Lifts Off a Power-Bank Charging Base
Patio and camping lights usually make you choose: a fixed light that stays put, or a hand lantern whose battery is always flat when you need it. This design does both. The lamp itself is a closed ring - a curved shade with the light tube forms the top, and a thicker handle holding a battery forms the bottom - so it can be carried in one hand or hung from a branch or hook. The cone-shaped base carries a second, larger battery and a charging plug in a groove on top. Set the ring in the groove, close the clamp, and the base both holds the lamp upright and recharges it. Several bases can be grouped on a common plate as a light set.

⭕
Ring-shaped lamp
Shade and handle form one closed ring that is easy to carry, hang or hook over a branch.
🔋
Base is a power bank
A second battery in the base recharges the lamp through a plug in the docking groove.
🗜️
Clamp holds it upright
A clamping piece locks the ring in the base; magnets beside the groove help it seat.
💡
Group into a set
Several lamps and bases can be mounted together as a portable light group.

The problem
Outdoor lights for patios, gardens and campsites are either fixed - plug-in or solar lights that stay in place - or portable lanterns that must be remembered and charged separately. A carried lantern is usually set down on the ground or table, where it tips over, and its small battery runs out in an evening. The patent’s aim is a light that is easy to take along when needed, with longer run time through a charging port and a storage battery.
The solution
The patent splits the light into a lamp (100) and a lamp holder (200):
- The lamp is a ring with a round cross-section: a handle (110) at the bottom and a lampshade (120) at the top, with the light tube inside the shade.
- A first battery inside the handle powers the light. A charging hole (111) on the underside of the handle and a switch (112) on its front complete the lamp.
- The holder has a cone-shaped base (210) with a groove on top. A charging plug (211) in the groove matches the lamp’s charging hole, and magnetic blocks (400) are set into both sides of the groove.
- A second battery in the base acts as the charging source for the lamp. A second switch (213) connects or disconnects it, and a second charging hole (212) recharges the base.
- A clamping piece (220) moves between a clamping and an unlocked state; clamped, it forms a slot (230) with the base that holds the lamp, unlocked, the lamp can be put in or taken out.
- A lamp group mounts several lamps and holders together (figure 5).

Who it is for
- Outdoor and camping lighting brands wanting a lantern with a home-base charging dock as its key selling point.
- Patio and garden furniture companies - the patent’s current owner is a furniture maker - who sell coordinated outdoor lighting.
- Hospitality suppliers providing table lights for restaurant terraces, hotel gardens and event venues, where lamps are collected and recharged nightly.
- Home décor brands selling cordless table lamps for indoor-outdoor use.
How it works
The main parts

| No. | Part | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 100 | Lamp | Ring-shaped light that can be carried away from the base. |
| 110 | Handle | Lower part of the ring; holds the first battery. |
| 120 | Lampshade | Upper part of the ring; contains the light tube. |
| 111, 112 | Charging hole and switch | On the handle. |
| 200, 210 | Holder and base | Cone-shaped base with a docking groove. |
| 211 | Charging plug | Meets the lamp’s charging hole when docked. |
| 212, 213 | Base charging hole and switch | Charge the base battery; switch its output to the lamp. |
| 220, 230 | Clamping piece and slot | Lock the lamp in place or release it. |
| 400 | Magnetic blocks | Help the lamp seat in the groove. |
Using it
- Charge the base through its charging hole.
- Dock the lamp - set the handle into the groove so the plug enters the charging hole, then close the clamp.
- Use it as a table light in the base, switching the lamp on at its handle.
- Lift it off - open the clamp and carry the ring by its handle, or hang it from a hook or branch.
- Return it to the base to recharge from the base battery or from mains.

Applications
Patio and deck tables
A cordless table light that stays upright in its base during dinner and can be lifted off to walk guests to the gate.
Camping and RV trips
The base stays in the tent or van as a charging station; the ring lantern goes to the campfire or hangs from a tree.
Restaurant and hotel terraces
Staff collect lamps at closing and dock them; a group plate keeps several lamps charged in one place.
Power-outage backup
Kept docked at home, the lamp is always charged and lifts out instantly when the power fails.
Garden parties and events
Groups of lamps on a shared plate can line a path or a buffet, then be carried away individually.
Where it is less suitable
- Permanent garden lighting - lights that stay out year-round are better served by hard-wired or solar fixtures.
- Heavy-duty work lighting - this is a décor and leisure lantern, not a high-output site light.
Frequently asked questions
How does the lamp charge?
The cone base has a charging plug in its top groove. When the lamp’s handle is set into the groove, the plug enters the lamp’s charging hole and the base’s own battery recharges it. The base is charged through its own port.
Does the base need to be plugged in?
No. The base contains a second battery, so it works as a power bank. It can also be left plugged in so the lamp is always topped up.
How long does it run?
The patent gives no figures. Run time depends on the battery capacities and LED power chosen in design and is measured on prototypes for each light mode.
How does the lamp stay in the base?
A clamping piece closes around the handle to form a holding slot, and magnetic blocks beside the groove help the lamp seat on the plug. Opening the clamp releases it.
Can I hang it?
Yes. The lamp is a closed ring, so it hangs from a hook, a tent loop or a branch, and is carried by its handle.
Is it waterproof?
The patent does not specify a rating. For outdoor sale we would design and test to a splash rating such as IPX4 and seal the charging contacts.
Can this design be made and sold in the US?
The patent was filed only in China and has lapsed, so it does not restrict the design in the US or in China. Rechargeable lanterns and charging docks may be covered by other US patents - see Patent & Production - so we recommend a freedom-to-operate check before volume production.
