What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a single-sided hand-free flat mop with a flat mop head (1), a mop rod (2), a wiping material (13), a pulling mechanism and a squeezing mechanism. The mop head has a first mop plate (11) and a second mop plate (12) joined by an elastic piece. One end of the wiping material is fixed to the first plate. Pulling the wiping material via the pulling mechanism folds the first plate toward the second plate against the elastic piece, passing the material through the squeezing mechanism. After squeezing, the elastic piece returns the first plate to its flat position.
Claim 2 - the right end of the first plate connects to the left end of the second plate via the elastic member; the squeezing mechanism sits at the right end of the second plate; the left end of the wiping material attaches to the left end of the first plate, and its right end connects to the pulling mechanism. Claim 3 - the pulling mechanism includes a pull rod (14); the wiping material connects to the pull rod through the squeezing mechanism. Claim 4 - the pulling mechanism also includes a grip sleeve (3) on the mop rod with a hook part (31) at its lower end to catch the pull rod during cleaning or squeezing. Claim 5 - the mop head is hinged to the mop rod and the wiping material is a sheet. Claim 6 - the elastic member is a spring (16) or an elastic sheet fixed at the bottoms of both plates. Claim 7 - when the elastic member is a spring, fixing columns (112, 122) hold its ends and limiting through holes (113, 123) house it inside the plates. Claim 8 - a sliding orientation device guides the grip sleeve axially on the mop rod. Claim 9 - the sliding orientation device is either an orientation protrusion on the rod fitting a sliding groove in the sleeve, or vice versa.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China and is in force there until at most 2030-06-15 (if annual fees are paid). It has no US or other foreign counterpart. However, because it remains active in China, making or selling this exact mop design in China needs the owner’s permission.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Self-wringing mops and flat-mop wringing mechanisms are a crowded patent field. Several global cleaning-tool companies hold US and international patents on squeeze mops, folding heads and handle-mounted actuators. A freedom-to-operate (FTO) review covering the folding-plate hinge, the pull-rod routing and the handle-sleeve actuation is needed before tooling for the US market.
- Spring fatigue and squeeze clearance. The spring dimensions and the gap inside the squeezing mechanism determine how much force the user applies and how long the elastic member lasts. These values are set in design and confirmed on prototypes.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Handle length | About 45 to 60 inches (to be confirmed in design) |
| Plate size | Width and length of the mop head to match standard cloth pads |
| Elastic member | Metal spring or molded elastic sheet, stiffness tuned to user effort |
| Squeezing rollers | Roller count, spacing and material for the wringing mechanism |
| Plastics | PP or ABS for plates and sleeve; color matching |
| Cloth attachment | Hook-and-loop strips or clamp slots for replaceable pads |
| Packaging | Header card, color box or bulk carton for retail or e-commerce |
Things to plan for (US market)
- CPSC general consumer product rules - no sharp edges or pinch points accessible to children; the sliding sleeve and folding plates must be evaluated for entrapment hazards.
- California Proposition 65 - plastics, metal springs and any printed inks must be screened for listed chemicals.
- Amazon listing requirements - if sold on Amazon US, the product may need CPC documentation or general safety testing depending on category enforcement.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - target market, handle length, head size, packaging and quantity.
- Design - 3D modeling of the plates, hinge, pull rod path, squeezing mechanism and grip sleeve orientation device.
- Prototype - 3D-printed or soft-tooled samples to verify folding travel, squeeze pressure and spring return.
- Pilot run - injection molds for plates and sleeve, die for the pull rod, assembly of pre-production units for cycle testing.
- Production - molding, metal stamping for springs, assembly, quality checks and packing.
Quantities & timeline
The mop head plates and grip sleeve require injection molds. The pull rod and fixing columns may need metal stamping dies or secondary machining. The spring is sourced or wound to specification. Assembly involves fitting the elastic member into the limiting through holes, threading the pull rod through the squeezing mechanism and attaching the hook part. Cycle testing of the folding action and squeeze function takes several weeks. Send us your target handle length, head dimensions, preferred materials, estimated order quantity and packaging format and we will reply with options.
