What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - hot pot chopsticks made of an upper half and a lower half joined into a slim rod. The upper half has a drive cavity with a reciprocating drive assembly whose output is fixed to a connector at the end of the upper half; the lower half is detachably connected to the connector.
Claim 2 - the drive assembly is a battery tube, a micro motor at one end, a battery, a switch assembly in the outer face and a protective cap with a control board. Claim 3 - electrode seats connect the battery to the board. Claims 4-5 - the switch assembly is two conductive rods, two insulating rods and several micro switches side by side; conductive posts run in a guide groove on the battery tube. Claims 6-7 - two charging pins on the cap, with a protective cover. Further claims - a key and groove and magnets joining the lower half to the connector.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China. It is still in force in China, so making or selling this design in China would need the owner’s permission while it lasts (at most until 2031-12-02). It has no US or other foreign counterpart and does not restrict the design outside China.
Two points to settle early:
- Other patents may exist. Motorized utensils, rotating forks and training chopsticks have scattered US patents, so a freedom-to-operate (FTO) review of the drive, switch strip and magnetic tip is advisable before tooling.
- Sealing. The handle must survive steam and splashes at the table; seals around the connector and charging pins are proven on samples.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Lower half | Food-grade PPS or PA resin, stainless steel, fiberglass; ridged tips |
| Upper half | Resin or metal shell, colors, laser-engraved patterns, logo |
| Motion | Rotation angle, speed and pattern set in the control board |
| Charging | Pin charging dock for a pair, magnetic USB cable, case with battery |
| Sizes | Standard 250 mm, longer cooking length, children’s length |
| Packaging | Gift box for one or two pairs, restaurant sets |
Things to plan for (US market)
- FDA food contact (21 CFR 177 and stainless steel grades) - the lower half and any part that touches food must be food-contact compliant.
- Lithium battery safety - the cell is tested to UL 2054 or IEC 62133, and shipped under UN 38.3.
- FCC Part 15 - the control board is a digital device and needs FCC verification.
- California Prop 65 - handle resins, coatings and paints are screened.
- Heat and moisture - the handle is tested near boiling broth for warping and water ingress.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - materials, motion pattern, charging method and quantity.
- Design - shells, drive cavity, switch strip, magnetic coupling, seals.
- Prototype - working samples for table trials with hot pot broth.
- Pilot run - battery, FCC and food-contact testing; charging and drop tests.
- Production - shell molding or machining, motor and board assembly, packing in pairs.
Quantities & timeline
The upper and lower halves need precision injection molds (or machining for metal versions), the drive unit uses a sourced micro stepper motor and a small battery cell, and the switch strip and board are custom assemblies. Miniaturizing the drive and sealing it take the most time. Send us your materials, charging method, packaging, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
