Claims 2-4 - the frame is an enclosure and a base plate in one piece (claim 2); the enclosure fits the back and the base plate fits the posterior superior iliac spine (back of the pelvis) and carries the load (claim 3); the enclosure has a spine part and a waist part that wraps from the center line toward the front ribs (claim 4). Claim 5 - criss-cross connecting ribs on the base and enclosure. Claim 6 - the shapes are measured by CT. Claim 7 - frame material: polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, stainless steel or aluminum alloy. Claims 8-10 - the bag has a frame, a compartment and a back panel zipped along its edges (claim 8); a harness with one-piece shoulder straps and adjustable fixing straps (claim 9); and two cross straps at the level of the lower breastbone (claim 10).

What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China. It is still in force in China, so making or selling this design in China would need the owner’s permission while it lasts (at most until 2031-10-28). It has no US or other foreign counterpart and does not restrict the design outside China.
Before production, keep in mind:
- Other patents may exist. Framed and ergonomic backpacks are made by many outdoor and bag brands, some with US patents on frames and suspension systems. Use your own frame styling and have a freedom-to-operate (FTO) search done by a US patent attorney before volume production.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Size | Daypack, commuter or travel sizes, with frames sized to match - to be confirmed in design |
| Frame | Molded PP/PE plastic or aluminum; frame sizes for different torso lengths |
| Bag | Fabric, compartments, laptop sleeve, water-resistant coating |
| Harness | Padding, chest strap style, hip belt option |
| Colors & branding | Brand colors, logo, licensed prints |
| Packaging | Polybag with hangtag or retail box |
Things to plan for (US market)
- Marketing claims - describe comfort and load distribution; claims about treating or preventing back problems may make the product a regulated medical device and need evidence.
- Children’s products - a version for children 12 and under needs CPSIA testing, a Children’s Product Certificate and tracking labels.
- Materials and labels - fiber content and country-of-origin labels; check coatings against California Proposition 65.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - bag type, size range and quantity.
- Design - frame shape and sizes, bag pattern, harness.
- Prototype - samples for fit, load and wear tests.
- Pilot run - small batch to check frame molding and sewing.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
A plastic frame needs an injection or blow mold per size; the bag is cut-and-sew. Send us your bag type, sizes, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
