What the claims cover, in plain language
Claim 1 - a glue-catching insect killer with a frame, a roller across it, a glue box above with a drip slot that coats the roller, a glue scraper, a lure lamp tube, a receiving box in the bottom, a motor driving the roller and electrical components that light the lamp and make the motor turn the roller slowly.
Claim 2 - lamp and scraper on opposite sides (front and back) of the roller axis. Claim 3 - glue guide plates on both sides of the drip slot. Claims 4-6 - the scraper sits where the roller turns back toward the glue box (claim 4), hangs vertically from the glue box tangent to the roller (claim 5) and has a horizontal lip (claim 6). Claim 7 - motor and electrics enclosed in a cover. Claim 8 - a mesh protective cover that lets the lamp light through.
This is a simplified reading for orientation only. The legal scope is defined by the exact claim wording in the official Chinese document.
What this means for US production
This patent was filed only in China. It is still in force in China, so making or selling this design in China would need the owner’s permission while it lasts (at most until 2032-03-22). It has no US or other foreign counterpart and does not restrict the design outside China.
Before production, keep in mind:
- Other patents may exist. Insect light traps are made by several pest-control brands with US patents. Use your own styling and have a freedom-to-operate (FTO) search done by a US patent attorney before volume production.
Customization and manufacturing
What can be customized
| Area | Options |
|---|---|
| Size | Home, patio or commercial lengths - to be confirmed in design |
| Light source | UV fluorescent tube or UV LEDs |
| Glue | Non-drying insect glue grade; refill cartridges |
| Roller speed | Fixed or adjustable; timer |
| Housing | Wall-mount, tabletop or hanging; indoor or weather-resistant |
| Branding & packaging | Brand colors, logo, retail box with glue refills |
Things to plan for (US market)
- Electrical safety - a mains-powered appliance needs safety certification (for example UL/ETL listing) for most US retailers.
- EPA device rules - an insect trap that uses no pesticide is regulated by the EPA as a pest-control device: no registration, but it must be made in an EPA-registered establishment, labeled with that number, and its claims must not be false or misleading.
- Glue and UV - document the glue’s safety data; follow UV lamp safety limits.
How a project runs
- Inquiry - size, indoor or outdoor use, light source and quantity.
- Design - roller, glue feed, scraper and motor speed; housing.
- Prototype - samples for glue coating, scraping and catch tests.
- Pilot run - small batch to check molding, assembly and certification samples.
- Production - volume production, packaging and shipping.
Quantities & timeline
The housing and glue box are molded; roller, motor, lamp and driver are standard components. Electrical certification is planned before mass production. Send us your size, use, quantity and target price and we will reply with options.
