Patent CN221690199U
Updated November 2, 2026Rotary Transparent Face Mirror Cap with Integrated Fan and Filter
Standard caps offer sun protection but no ventilation or air filtering. This design integrates a rotary transparent face mirror with a built-in fan system. When the mirror rotates down to cover the face, the fan's air outlet aligns with the mouth and nose. Air enters through a filter device, passes through filter cloth, and is blown by a speed-controlled motor. This setup provides active cooling and dust reduction for outdoor wear, combining headwear with personal air management in one unit.

The problem
Traditional hats protect from sun but do not address heat buildup around the face or airborne particulates like dust and pollen. Wearers often remove their headwear to cool down or add separate masks, which disrupts the fit and style. There is a need for headwear that combines physical shielding with active ventilation and filtration without requiring bulky external accessories.
The solution
The design features a hat body and a transparent face mirror (12). The mirror attaches to the sides of the hat via two rivets, allowing it to rotate up and down. A fan device is connected to the mirror. When the mirror rotates down to cover the face, the fan’s air outlet positions itself directly in front of the human mouth and nose.
The fan draws air through an air inlet equipped with an air filter device. This device includes a detachable air filter cloth fixing frame (21) that holds filter cloth (2). Air passes through the cloth, then through the fan, providing cooled and filtered output. The system is powered by a motor (3), impeller (31), and battery (5), controlled by a speed-regulating power switch (51).

Who it is for
- Outdoor Apparel Brands: Companies looking to differentiate summer gear with functional ventilation features.
- Industrial Safety Suppliers: Businesses needing lightweight headwear options for workers in dusty, hot environments who require some air filtration.
- Cycling and Running Gear Makers: Brands targeting athletes who want aerodynamic coverage combined with active cooling.
- Consumer Electronics Integrators: Firms developing wearable tech that merges traditional fabric products with small electronic components.
How it works
The main parts
| No. | Part | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | Transparent Face Mirror | Pivots on rivets; covers face when rotated down. |
| 21 | Filter Frame | Detachable holder for the filter cloth. |
| 2 | Filter Cloth | Filters incoming air at the inlet. |
| 3 | Motor | Drives the fan impeller; speed adjustable. |
| 31 | Impeller | Moves air through the system. |
| 4 | Motor Fixing Frame | Concave tube housing the motor; defines air path. |
| 5 | Battery | Powers the motor and electronics. |
| 51 | Switch | Controls power and fan speed. |
Operating Steps
- Rotation: The user rotates the transparent mirror (12) downward. Due to the rivet pivot points, the mirror moves into a position covering the lower face.
- Alignment: As the mirror descends, the attached fan device moves with it. The air outlet aligns with the wearer’s mouth and nose area.
- Activation: The user turns on the speed-regulating switch (51). The motor (3) spins the impeller (31).
- Filtration: Ambient air is drawn into the air inlet. It passes through the filter cloth (2) held in the detachable frame (21).
- Output: Filtered air travels through the motor fixing frame (4) and exits the air outlet, creating a stream of cooled, cleaner air directed at the face.

Applications
Summer Outdoor Recreation
Hikers and campers use the cap during hot days. The rotating shield covers the face, while the fan provides a breeze. The filter helps reduce inhalation of dust from trails, making long walks more comfortable without stopping to drink water frequently.
Urban Commuting
Cyclists and pedestrians in cities benefit from the dual function. The transparent mirror protects against wind and minor debris. The fan mitigates sweat accumulation on the face. The filter offers basic protection against urban particulate matter during high-traffic commutes.
Light Industrial Work
Workers in construction or agriculture often face heat stress and airborne dust. This cap offers a lighter alternative to heavy respirators for low-risk environments. The active airflow keeps the worker cooler, potentially improving focus and endurance during shifts.
Sports Training
Athletes in running or team sports can use this for recovery or warm-ups outdoors. The transparent shield covers the face, while the fan assists in thermal regulation. The compact battery keeps mobility unrestricted compared to bulkier cooling vests.
Where it is less suitable
- High-Risk Hazardous Environments: The simple filter cloth does not meet N95 or industrial respirator standards for toxic fumes or fine particulates.
- Cold Weather Use: The active fan may cause discomfort or chill factor in low temperatures; this is designed primarily for heat dissipation.
- Heavy Rain Conditions: While the mirror sheds water, the open intake areas might allow moisture ingress if not carefully managed in severe storms.
Frequently asked questions
How does the fan stay quiet?
The patent describes a standard DC motor and impeller setup. Noise levels depend on the specific motor selected and the housing design. Manufacturers typically choose low-RPM motors or sound-dampening materials in the casing to minimize noise for the wearer.
Can I wash the hat?
The hat body can usually be washed if the fan module is removable. The patent mentions detachable connections like elastic clips or magnetic adsorption. This allows the user to take off the electronic and plastic components before washing the fabric part.
How long does the battery last?
The patent does not specify battery capacity. Runtime depends on the motor size and battery mAh rating chosen during production. Typical designs aim for several hours of continuous use on a medium setting, but this must be confirmed in prototype testing.
Is the filter effective against viruses?
The patent specifies a “filter cloth” and an optional negative ion generator. Standard non-woven cloths block dust and large particles. They are not certified medical devices (like N95) for viral filtration unless specifically upgraded and tested for such standards.
Does the mirror fog up?
The patent notes the mirror surface is smooth and flat. Fogging can occur due to breath condensation. Some designs include anti-fog coatings or rely on the airflow from the fan to reduce condensation, but this is a material choice rather than a structural feature described in the patent.
Can this design be made and sold in the US?
The patent is in force in China and has no US counterpart. However, similar technologies may be covered by other US patents. You must conduct a freedom-to-operate search to ensure you do not infringe on existing US intellectual property rights before selling in the United States.
