About this category

Apparel and footwear brands differentiate on details customers touch every day: closures, trims, linings and fit features. Trims such as zippers, buckles and snaps appear on almost every garment and bag, so a closure that looks and works differently can become a signature detail across a whole collection - and a new product line for a trims manufacturer.

The first patent in this collection is a zipper whose two rows of teeth close one on top of the other instead of side by side. Both rows use the same tooth, one row turned over, and each tooth has a raised cusp and a hollow socket that lock into the opposite row. The slider is a top and bottom plate joined by a diagonal divider, with sloped inner faces that press the rows together as it moves.
